It’s back to school time! Alongside my Tea Sommelier certification, I am also a high school teacher, and being back in the classroom is my inspiration for the Intentional Tea Time offering at this week’s Downtown Sykesville Farmers Market
I’ll be serving small batches of white, green, oolong, black, and herbal teas and blends throughout the market. What’s steeping will change throughout the morning, and when the kettles allow, I’ll also brew teas by request.
For me, this week is about giving you enough knowledge to take home with your tea that you can impress your friends with your tea nerdery 🤓☕️
You’ll learn about the craft, the taste, the story, the benefits, and the energetics of what’s in your cup — how it’s grown, harvested, processed, blended, and steeped; where it comes from; its taste profile; its potential health benefits; and the metaphysical qualities and alignment of the tea.
There are no bells, but don’t be toooo late! I have low stock of some faves, including Katýdid and P**i Monkey.
The early tastings will feature those two blends served chilled, and “Earth,” an organic shou pu-erh — a fermented Chinese black tea — served warm.
And if you want to go full tea nerd, ask me to brew a fresh kettle of White Monkey and we can do a proper multi-infusion tasting.
