Front Porch Collective, LLC

Front Porch Collective, LLC Front Porch Collective, LLC offers professional grief support to adults experiencing loss. Our mission is to witness, understand, and support those in grief.

Through 1:1 and group sessions, grievers are provided space to share stories of loss, have their grief witnessed, and explore strategies for growth and finding purpose after the death of a loved one or grief following a life event. Front Porch Collective was born from a need to create more spaces for grievers and build communities that understand and embrace the process of grief work. Following th

e sudden loss of her father in 2022, FPC founder Nicole Kerekes began the healing process of working with a Certified Grief Educator and supporter. Through their grief work together, Nicole began feeling empowered to take on life again. It was the realization that Nicole wanted to do for others what her supporter did for her that drove her to become a Certified Grief Educator through David Kessler and grief.com.

The death of a loved one or other grief-causing event* is not as simple as a single loss. Instead, it is the initial loss PLUS a collection of "smaller" losses in its aftermath. These losses are called secondary losses.

Secondary losses complicate an already overwhelming initial loss. The pain that comes from secondary losses often impacts grievers in ways that cannot be predicted and complicates their grieving process. These losses are surprising aftershocks in a grief earthquake.

What secondary losses have you experienced following your initial loss?

*non-death grief-causing events can include but are not limited to: divorce, job loss, disabling event, financial issues, body changes, estrangement, medical events, imprisonment, breakups, political events, natural disasters

IMAGE DESCRIPTION: graphic with a tan papery background. It reads "let's talk about secondary losses." A series of six circles encapsulates the following text with a center circle that reads "the initial loss": loss of support system; loss of housing, income, or safety; loss of faith or beliefs; loss of consistency and routine; loss of identity or sense of self; loss of opportunities or future plans.
