Live Tampa Bay is launching its Senior Recovery & Research Roundtable, a quarterly virtual conversation focused on overdose rates among older adults and opportunities to strengthen prevention, recovery, and support across our communities.

Our first meeting will feature Dr. Joshua Barnett, Director of Provider Success at Goldfinch Health. Dr. Barnett will discuss The Billion Pill Pledge, an evidence-based initiative focused on reducing unnecessary opioid use following surgery.

September is National Recovery Month.

Throughout this month, we recognize the millions of people living in recovery, celebrate the families, peers, and professionals who support them, and continue working to make recovery possible for more people in our communities.

Recovery doesn’t have one look or one story. People in recovery are our coworkers, neighbors, friends, family members, business leaders, and community partners. They come from every profession, background, and walk of life.

At Live Tampa Bay, National Recovery Month is also an opportunity to remind our community that recovery is possible, support matters, and no one should have to navigate the journey alone.

This September, we’re bringing that message to the ballpark! ⚾

Join us on September 16 for Recovery Night with the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field, a special evening bringing together the recovery community, families, advocates, behavioral health professionals and supporters for connection, networking, a special guest speaker and Rays baseball.

Celebrate recovery.
Connect with our community.
Enjoy a night at the ballpark.

First responders spend their careers answering the call when others need help. But who answers when they are the ones struggling?

The demands of serving as a law enforcement officer, firefighter, EMT, paramedic or other first responder can carry an enormous emotional weight. Repeated exposure to trauma, loss, high-stress situations and the responsibility of caring for others can take a toll — and no one should have to carry that weight alone.

We want every first responder in Tampa Bay to know: asking for help is not a weakness. Support is available.

The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay’s First Responder Hope Line provides 24/7 emotional support for law enforcement, firefighters, EMS professionals, and their loved ones. First responders can also connect with peer care coordinators who understand the profession firsthand.

Live Tampa Bay is proud to work alongside behavioral health and public safety partners who are helping strengthen the systems of support available to those who serve our communities.

If you are struggling, reach out. If you notice a colleague struggling, check in. Sometimes one conversation can make an important difference.

For immediate crisis support, call or text 988. For local support and community resources through the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, call 211.

Last Friday, August 21, would have marked actress Hayden Panettiere’s 37th birthday.

As fans, friends, and loved ones continue to remember her life, her birthday offers an opportunity to reflect on the openness with which she spoke about her experiences with addiction, mental health, and recovery.

By sharing some of her deeply personal struggles publicly, Hayden helped bring visibility to challenges that are too often hidden behind closed doors. Her story also reinforces an important truth: substance use disorder does not discriminate.

It can affect people across every profession, neighborhood, income level and walk of life, including those whose lives may appear successful or put together from the outside.

As we remember Hayden, we’re reminded of the importance of approaching substance use and recovery with compassion rather than judgment. Support matters. Recovery is possible. And no one should feel ashamed to ask for help.

At Live Tampa Bay, we remain committed to building a community where people affected by substance use are met with understanding, resources and pathways to recovery.

August is National Wellness Month, a reminder that wellness extends beyond physical health.

Behavioral health, meaningful relationships, stable employment, access to care, and community connection all contribute to long-term well-being. When communities invest in these areas, they create stronger foundations for prevention, recovery, and healthier lives.

Building wellness is a shared responsibility, and it starts with collaboration.
