Sorry, not sorry for the slightly-veiled vulgarity. I truly believe the sentiment though. Today is National Cancer Survivors' Day. If you have someone who has went toe-to-toe with any cancer and has come out as a victor, hold them tight and enjoy time with them. If a loved one lost their battle, please take it as an opportunity to educate yourself and others on detection and prevention.
I have personally had both friends and family encounter various cancers, but it is Melanoma that has a particular bit of hatred for me. Our skin is our largest organ. It faces the outside world and protects us from it. Melanoma is one of the most treatable and preventable types of cancer, but it requires that we stay vigilant in protecting it from the suns harmful UV rays and to notice changes early to take action. I work with several clients each day, I will always make an effort to spot anything that I think may be worth looking further into by a health are professional.
Please cover up and use sunscreen responsibly whenever outside, especially during these summer months. Anyone and any skin tone can get melanoma.
