This week, we welcome our new CA-1s 💉👩🏽‍⚕️👨🏾‍⚕️🧑🏻‍⚕️💊! The categorical residents have spent two months with us in the ORs and simulation lab, trained by our outstanding residents, fellows, and faculty. They are more than ready to hit the ground running 🏃🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️. We’re also welcoming our advanced residents as they get acquainted with Montefiore. With this much talent in one room, our expectations are through the roof 💫 We can’t wait to see what you all accomplish over these next three years!!!

🎉 Last week we celebrated our CA-3 class’s graduation from residency at the beautiful Glen Island Harbour Club, surrounded by co-residents, attendings, fellows, program leadership, and the family and friends who supported them along the way. So grateful for the awards, the laughs, and the memories made over these three years. As this incredible group heads off to their next chapters — some starting as attendings in private and academic practice, others continuing on to fellowship (a big shoutout to those staying with us at Montefiore for cardiac, pediatric, and regional anesthesia!) — it’s been an honor to be part of their training. Thank you to the entire Montefiore Einstein Anesthesia family for making this such a meaningful journey. Here’s to the next chapter for this talented group ✨

In addition to an incredible weekend at IARS in Montreal, we were equally inspired by the remarkable scholarship and collaboration showcased at the 2026 Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology Annual Meeting. Proud to see outstanding work presented by medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty spanning complex obstetric anesthesia cases, multidisciplinary perioperative care, education, and innovation.

We are especially grateful to our Chief of Obstetric Anesthesia, Dr. Shamanta Reddy, for her unwavering support, mentorship, and dedication to fostering academic growth within our department. A big round of applause for CA3 Resident Dr. Steven Flamer, honored as one of the House Staff Officers of the Year! An incredible showing from our Department of Anesthesiology at this past weekend’s International Anesthesia Research Society Annual Meeting in Montreal 🔥🇨🇦 We had 20+ posters, speaking sessions, workshops, and award-winning presentations, showcasing the strength of our residents, fellows, attendings, and Digital Health Lab research team.

Our work spanned key perioperative domains including predictive modeling, patient safety, critical care, delirium, sedation, health disparities, regional anesthesia, and prehabilitation.
