✦ MEET THE DIRECTOR ✦
CHERIE MICHELLE KNIGHTON
We’re excited to officially introduce Cherie Michelle Knighton, Director of the Maryland State Massage Championship!
Get to know Cherie, her experience, and the passion she brings to Maryland’s massage community:
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Cherie attended and completed massage therapy programs at Lake Tahoe Massage School, California in 1995 and Harrisburg Area Community College, Pennsylvania in 2014, and became a Freedom Member of World Massage Festival in 2015. In 2001 she acquired a RYT200 certification from Nosara Interdisciplinary Yoga, in order to help bring another healing modality to her community. Today she consistently practices, studies, and shares yoga, including certifications in Pranayama/meditation & Yoga Nidra.
Cherie holds massage certifications in Swedish Massage, Maternity Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Sports Therapy and Orthopedic/Clinical Massage techniques. And has acquired hundreds of CEU’s in sports therapy/orthopedic/clinical modalities because she found they consistently helped clients to manage their pain & stress symptoms, and take steps to heal themselves. In her 30 years of practice she has experienced work in spas, chiropractic offices, professional sports training facilities, and private practice. Currently she is earning her Certified Personal Training Certification through NASM & Master of Myoskeletal Therapy.
Additional certifications include IntuARTive Expression and Usui Holy Fire Reiki Master.
Currently Cherie has a private practice at Catoctin Mountain Massage & Wellness Center in Thurmont, Maryland.
You find Cherie volunteering herself and skills as well. Volunteering started in Lake Tahoe at The Death Ride, a challenging 72mile bike ride around the lake, where she provided sports massage to all who asked. Current projects include The Gateway to the Cure golf tournament where her office, Catoctin Mountain Massage & Wellness Center, donates and has a golf team to help fund the cause. Plus, donating her time to be judge at the ever growing US Massage Camp & American Massage Championships.
“My greatest joy is seeing a client feel a positive change in their physical &/or subtle energy body that helps them be a better person outside of our treatment space.”
