I don’t sing because life has always been good to me. I sing because life tried to break me, and somehow, I kept finding pieces of myself worth saving. Every wave washed away a version of me that survived by shrinking, settling, and suffering in silence.

So I’m not afraid of the water anymore. I know what it carries away—and I know who I become when I rise from it.

If you’re wading through deep waters right now, keep moving. You are not drowning, baby. You are being cleansed of everything that can’t go where your healed self is headed.
