Many accessibility barriers are invisible until someone encounters them.

A doorway that’s difficult to open. A break room that’s impossible to navigate. An entrance that’s just a little too steep.

The good news? Many accessibility improvements are simpler and more affordable than business owners realize.

PCIL offers FREE ADA Accessibility Assessments to businesses and organizations in Mercer County and Hunterdon County. Our team can help identify potential barriers and provide practical recommendations to create a more welcoming environment for employees, customers, and visitors with disabilities.

Accessibility isn’t just about compliance—it’s about inclusion.

“When people with disabilities are given the right support, they gain the tools to live more independently, pursue education, and build confidence for the future.” 💙

Stephanie’s journey with the Progressive Center for Independent Living began during her transition years and continued through independent living skills, work experience, and support for postsecondary education. From practicing office skills to receiving scholarship assistance for Mercer County Community College, PCIL helped provide opportunities that encouraged growth, confidence, and independence.

Stephanie shared that one of the things she remembers most was learning office skills and receiving encouragement along the way. Experiences like these help people with disabilities build independence, confidence, and real-world skills that can carry into adulthood.

Stories like Stephanie’s remind us why independent living services matter for people with disabilities in Mercer County, Hunterdon County, and throughout New Jersey. 💙
