Triple feeding isn’t the hard part.
Okay… it’s a little hard. 😅
But what I mean is that most moms are given a plan. Breastfeed. Pump. Bottle feed. Repeat.
You can do the steps.
The hard part is wondering:
“Is this actually working?”
“How do I know if things are improving?”
“How long am I supposed to keep doing this?”
That’s where so many families get stuck.
A lot of moms think the goal is to pump more milk after nursing and bottle feeding.
But that’s not actually what we’re aiming for.
We want your body to make more milk so your BABY can transfer more milk at the breast - not so you can spend your life attached to a pump collecting bigger bottles.
So what should you be watching for?
✔ More swallowing while nursing
✔ A better suck-to-swallow ratio
✔ Baby finishing feeds with fewer ounces needed in the bottle
✔ Longer stretches of contentment after breastfeeding
✔ Baby doing more of the work at the breast and less from supplements
Those are the signs that breastfeeding is becoming more effective.
And if someone put you on a triple feeding plan and then disappeared into the wilderness without giving you an exit strategy…
Respectfully, we need to have a chat. 😂
Triple feeding should be a bridge, not a permanent lifestyle.
