60 seconds. ⏳ That’s all you need to practice emotional awareness and self regulation.

Where are you landing today? ✨

Without judgement, without fear. Just notice.

And remember to offer yourself grace and compassion. 🫶🏽

Every child deserves a space where they don’t have to earn emotional safety.

Sometimes emotional regulation doesn’t mean “talking things out”. It can begin with slowing down, breathing deeply, and feeling supported. 💚

A simple pose like Child’s Pose can help children reconnect with their bodies, calm their nervous systems, and realize that rest is just as valuable as movement.

At Zen Creative Wellness, we believe social-emotional learning should be accessible to every child, especially those who experience the world differently.

That’s why we’re proud to partner with schools and pediatric therapy centers throughout Southern Maryland to provide trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming wellness programs that help children:

✨Build emotional regulation skills
✨Reduce stress and overwhelm
✨Strengthen body awareness and self-confidence
✨Develop healthy coping strategies
✨Feel safe, seen, and supported

Our programs blend mindfulness, yoga, breathing exercises, creative expression, and sensory-informed practices to create inclusive environments where every child can regulate, and that’s how learning, connecting, and growing coincides. 🫶🏽💚. I’ve got chills in my body just typing this ☺️

If you’re a parent, caregiver, school administrator, counselor, special educator, occupational therapist, speech therapist, ABA provider, or pediatric practice in Southern Maryland, I’d love to partner with you to bring meaningful wellness programming to the children and families you serve.

💚 Let’s create calmer classrooms, more connected communities, and regulated humans, together!

📍Serving Southern Maryland: Prince George’s County, Charles County, Calvert County, and Montgomery County.

Meltdowns are overwhelming for everyone involved, this is true; and as parents, it’s natural to want to fix the situation as quickly as possible. But when a child is overwhelmed, what they need most isn’t correction, they need co-regulation.

The next time your child is melting down, try to:
💚Stay as calm as you can
💚 Reduce your words
💚 Offer your steady presence
💚 Save teaching and problem-solving for after they’ve regulated

Children do well when they can, so when we respond with connection instead of control, we’re helping them to build the emotional regulation skills they’ll carry for life.

✨ Which of these mistakes have you caught yourself making? Share below if you choose to.

👀 Is anyone else’s summer feeling a little less relaxing than expected?

I mean, between changing routines, extra curricular activities, vacations, sibling disagreements, and trying to keep everyone entertained, summer can leave both parents and children feeling overwhelmed. *whew chile* 🥵

The truth is, when routines change, nervous systems often need extra support.

That’s why I created Regulated Together: a Parent + Child Co-Regulation Virtual Workshop. This workshop is designed to help families reconnect, slow down, and learn practical tools for navigating big feelings together. 🤞🏽

Most parenting advice focuses on correcting behavior.
But behavior is often a nervous system response.

Inside my upcoming virtual workshop, Regulated Together, families will learn how to:
✨ recognize stress signals
✨ support emotional regulation
✨ create safety through connection
✨ practice calming tools together

Collectively, we will be learning how to support our child without abandoning ourselves in the process.

At the end of the workshop, families will also have the opportunity to continue deeper support inside my Zen Collective Support Group.

Emotional regulation isn’t learned through punishment. It’s learned through practice, connection, and co-regulation. 👈🏽write that down on a sticky note.

When a child is melting down, shutting down, or acting out, their nervous system is often signaling that they need support before they can access the regulation skills we’re asking them to use.

This doesn’t mean we eliminate boundaries. It just means that we approach it another way.

When we respond with emotional behavior with curiosity, connection, and regulation, we create the conditions where real learning can happen.
