May holds two observances that are deeply personal to me. 🌸💚

As a Japanese American woman and the founder of Aspire Neuropsychological Services, I carry both Mental Health Awareness Month and AAPI Heritage Month in everything I do.

Growing up, mental health wasn't something we talked about in my family. Like many Asian American households, we pushed through, stayed strong, and kept struggles private. It wasn't weakness — it was love. It was the only way many of us knew how to protect each other.

But I also learned that silence has a cost.

That's part of why I became a psychologist. And it's part of why I built Aspire, because everyone deserves answers, support, and care without shame.
