Some weight-loss trends deserve the hype. Others deserve a side-eye. 👀

Fat burners. Intermittent fasting. Fiber-maxxing. Keto. Walking. Prescription weight-management medications.

They all get talked about online like they belong in the same category. They don’t.

What makes sense for one person may not make sense for another, and a viral trend isn’t the same thing as an individualized medical plan.

And when medication enters the conversation, the answer gets even more personal. Zepbound (tirzepatide) is an FDA-approved prescription medication for certain adults who meet its approved indications. It also has important risks and other considerations, so whether it’s appropriate for someone requires an individualized medical evaluation.

So yes, Dr. Verma has ratings. 😂 But the biggest takeaway?

**Don’t build your health plan from a trend ranking.**

Things doctors probably wish they could put on a prescription pad more often:

Putting your phone down at night.
Not diagnosing yourself on TikTok.
Actually showing up for your follow-up appointments. 😭

Not every part of taking care of your health comes in a prescription bottle.

Sometimes the basics matter too: asking questions, following through, building sustainable habits, and working with a physician who understands your medical history.

Be honest… **which one did you need to hear?** 👀

If you’ve Googled “why am I tired?” and somehow ended up convinced you have 7 different health problems… this one’s for you. 😅

Fatigue can feel like a simple symptom, but the reason behind it isn’t always simple.

Two people can both say, “I’m exhausted all the time,” and have completely different factors worth evaluating. Sleep, medications, nutrition, medical history, lab findings, and other factors may all be part of the bigger picture.

That’s why the better question isn’t always “What treatment do I need?”

It’s “Why am I feeling this way?”

Google can give you possibilities. It can’t give you an individualized medical evaluation.

When patients come in with several different concerns… and they’re really asking one question:

“Can you help me figure out what’s actually going on?”

“I want to lose weight.”
“I’m exhausted all the time.”
“My hormones feel off.”

Those concerns may sound connected, but they don’t automatically point to one cause or one treatment.

That’s why personalized care starts with the bigger picture: symptoms, medical history, medications, lifestyle, appropriate testing, and an individual evaluation.

Because the goal isn’t to guess what you need from a symptom.

It’s to evaluate the factors that could be contributing and determine appropriate next steps.

Have you ever compared your symptoms to a friend’s and thought, “Maybe I need what they’re taking?”

Changes in sleep, mood, energy, weight, or temperature can have many possible explanations. Someone else’s experience cannot tell you what may be contributing to your symptoms or whether hormone therapy is appropriate for you.

At Lifestyle Physicians, evaluating hormone concerns involves an individualized conversation about your symptoms, medical history, goals, and potential risks. Lab testing may also be considered when clinically appropriate.

Some things your physician really hopes you’ll mention before starting something new. 😅

TikTok recommendations, a friend’s prescription, a giant “all-natural” supplement stack, or a too-good-to-be-true deal online should never replace an individualized medical evaluation.

What’s appropriate for one person may not be appropriate for another. Your medical history, current medications, potential risks, and individual needs all matter.

Be honest—which one sounds the most familiar? 👀

POV: TikTok convinced you that you need a 14-step supplement routine. 😂

Supplements may be appropriate for some people, but “I saw it online” isn’t the same as knowing whether something is appropriate for you.

Before adding another bottle to the lineup, consider talking with your healthcare provider about what you’re taking, why you’re taking it, and whether it makes sense alongside your medications and overall health.

Be honest… how many supplements are currently in your cabinet? 👀

Peptides are having a social media moment. That doesn’t make them a social media decision.

You hear about one on TikTok. You see another on Instagram. Suddenly your algorithm is serving you peptide content like it’s the newest wellness trend everyone needs to try.

But peptides are a broad category, and the evidence, potential risks, and regulatory status can vary depending on the specific product and use.

The important questions come before the hype:

What exactly is it?
What does the evidence actually show?
What is its regulatory status?
What are the potential risks and limitations?
And is it even appropriate to consider for you?

A viral video can introduce you to a topic. It shouldn’t make your medical decisions for you.

Hearing a lot about GLP-1 medications online? What you see on your feed shouldn’t be the only thing guiding the conversation.

Understanding how a medication works is only part of the picture. Your medical history, potential risks, contraindications, individual health needs, and the specific medication being considered all matter.

Not every medication or approach is appropriate for every patient. That’s why these conversations belong in a medical setting, with individualized evaluation and guidance.

Have questions about GLP-1 medications? Bring them to a qualified healthcare provider.
