We just completed two trips to Dominican Republic. From February 14 to 21, we served with Del Rey Ministries and groups from five churches. We held health education expos in four different bateys (sugarcane villages). People had the opportunity to learn about dental care, women's health, and children's health. We also did blood pressure and blood sugar screenings and taught about the importance of diet and exercise in managing hypertension and diabetes.
From March 1 to 6, we served with a group of students from St Vincent College. These were all students planning to pursue further education in health-related areas. The students visited the clinics and accompanied our doctors on some home visits. It was an opportunity for them to see how we deliver health care in a developing country.
Here are some photographs from each trip. Your prayers and donations support this important work of bring health care to impoverished villages in and around the sugarcane fields of central Dominican Republic.
