What Is a Nexus Letter? 🇺🇸

A nexus letter is an independent medical opinion that explains whether your current medical condition is connected to your military service. When medically supported, it may help strengthen the evidence for a VA disability claim.
At Balance Wellness & Primary Care, we provide evidence-based nexus letter evaluations with a board-certified provider. Telehealth is available for most conditions, and in-office appointments are also offered.

Have questions about whether a nexus letter may be appropriate for your situation? Contact our office to learn more. 813-344-3948

🌊 Balance’s First-Ever Business Retreat! 🌊

Our first Balance business retreat is officially in the books, and it was definitely a productive one!

We worked hard to lock down new ideas for both primary care and mental health, explore new therapy modalities, and plan some exciting new services launching this fall.

Of course, we made time for a little fun too! We used the experience to strengthen our team, get outside of our comfort zones, and learn more about the ocean, from marine life and the water itself to understanding how waves work. 🌊

And there was a reason for all that ocean learning! We’ll be incorporating some of what we learned into a brand-new service coming to Balance this fall, and we think you’re going to love it. 💚

A little work, a little play, a lot of learning, and some really great things ahead for Balance Wellness & Primary Care and Balance Mental Health & Psychiatry.

Stay tuned. We can’t wait to show you what’s coming next!

🎒 Back to School Means a New Routine for Parents, Too

Back-to-school season can feel like a lot. New schedules, earlier mornings, school drop-offs, activities, homework, appointments, practices, lunches, and a constant stream of information to remember.

And somewhere in all of that, it can become really easy to forget about you.

You may not have an hour to yourself every day, and that’s okay. Look for the little pockets of time that already exist in your routine.

🌿 After school drop-off: Instead of immediately making a phone call or jumping into the next task, give yourself a few quiet minutes. Make a playlist of songs that help you relax and listen on the drive. If quiet feels good, turn everything off and simply enjoy it. An audiobook can be a great option, too.

🚗 Use your time in the car: Those few minutes before pickup or between activities can become a small reset. Try some slow, deep breathing or a simple grounding exercise while you’re safely parked. On a nice day, roll down the window and let in some fresh air and sunlight.

☀️ Step outside for 10 minutes: Once the kids are home and settled, if they are old enough to safely be inside without you, step outdoors. Sit quietly, notice the temperature, listen to the sounds around you, and give yourself permission to do absolutely nothing for a few minutes.

🧘 Practice mini resets throughout the day: Deep breathing, grounding techniques, stretching, listening to a favorite song, sitting outside, or simply being alone for five minutes all count.

Self-care doesn’t always have to be an event you schedule. Sometimes it’s learning to recognize the small moments throughout the busyness of life when you can slow down, breathe, and reconnect with yourself.

If you’re struggling to adjust to the new school-year schedule, feeling overwhelmed, or finding that stress is becoming difficult to manage, Balance Mental Health & Psychiatry is here to help.

A few minutes for yourself each day may not change your schedule, but it can change how you feel moving through it. 💚

🌿 National Relaxation Day 🌿

When was the last time you truly allowed yourself to relax?

Relaxation looks different for everyone. Maybe it’s sitting outside with a cup of coffee, taking a walk, reading a book, exercising, spending time with family, praying, listening to music, or simply enjoying a few quiet minutes without a screen.

What do you do to relax?

If relaxing feels difficult, consider what may be getting in the way of peace in your life. Is it a constantly busy schedule? Racing thoughts? Worry about things you can’t control? Work stress? Difficulty setting boundaries? Feeling guilty when you slow down?

Sometimes our minds become so accustomed to being “on” that slowing down can actually feel uncomfortable.

This National Relaxation Day, give yourself permission to identify what brings you peace and make a little more room for it in your daily life.

And if anxiety, stress, depression, racing thoughts, or other concerns are making it difficult to relax and enjoy your life, you don’t have to figure it all out alone. Our providers at Balance Mental Health & Psychiatry are here to help.

💚 Schedule a visit today at balancementalhealthFL.com

Your mental health deserves time and attention, too.

How’s your morning routine coming along?

Over the past few weeks, we’ve shared tips on building a healthier morning routine. Now we’d love to hear from you.

What changes have you made?

Maybe you’re waking up a little earlier, taking a few deep breaths before starting your day, or simply waiting 5 minutes before picking up your phone. Small changes may not seem like much, but they can help you start your day with more intention instead of immediately reacting to notifications and distractions.

Remember, you don’t have to change everything overnight. Consistency with small habits often leads to lasting routines.

If you’re struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, ADHD, or simply finding it difficult to create healthy routines, we’re here to help. Together, we can develop strategies that fit your life and support your mental well-being.
