The Americal Medical Association (AMA) has revised the CPT® Category III early release schedule, moving from two updates a year to three, with updates now planned for April, July, and October.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released its October 2026 quarterly update to the HCPCS Level II code set, with changes taking effect Oct. 1, 2026. The update includes 88 new codes, 14 deleted codes, 11 long descriptor changes, five codes with payment changes, and one administrative field change. Meet Claire Stevenson, a Medical Coding Quality Analyst in the Content Department. Claire started at AAPC in April of 2024.

Claire was born in Arizona but spent most of her growing up years in Seattle, Washington. Claire currently resides in eastern Washington but is hoping one day she can convince her husband to move to Arizona. Claire and her husband love the outdoors and roller coasters and have a goal to go to one theme park and one National Park each year!

Claire loves baking and cooking, she makes her own yogurt, kombucha, and sourdough! She also enjoys books of all genres, with her favorites being River God by Wilbur Smith and The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.

We’re so lucky to have Claire on the AAPC team and are grateful for all she does!
