No medical advice No matter what the health problem, don’t surrender to a life of pain and misery until you see us. There is hope! Our clinics use The Wellness Way approach to assess and treat your health care concerns. Perhaps you have experienced

being examined by a doctor, having blood tests done, x-rays or other diagnostic tests taken, only for your doctor to report back that all your tests are normal. Yet you know that there is something wrong! Unfortunately, this experience is all too common. Most physicians are trained to look only in specific places for the answers, using the same familiar labs or diagnostic tests. Yet, many causes of illness cannot be found in these places. The usual tests do not look for food allergies, hidden infections, environmental toxins, mold exposures, nutritional deficiencies and metabolic imbalances. We use a variety of innovative testing techniques and procedures to help our patients prevent illness and recover from many chronic and difficult to treat conditions. Our clinicians are highly skilled in evaluating and assessing chronic problems such as fibromyalgia, fatigue syndromes, autoimmune diseases, inflammatory disorders, mood and behavior disorders, memory problems, heart disease, diabetes, hormonal imbalances, autism, and other chronic, complex conditions. When it comes to your health and wellness, we believe that your journey begins here! https://westdesmoinesia.thewellnessway.com/

Why do autoimmune symptoms seem to come out of nowhere? 🤔

The truth is, they often don’t.

✨ 1. Hormones: Changes in estrogen, progesterone, cortisol, or thyroid hormones can influence the immune system and make symptoms flare.

😰 2. Stress: Chronic physical or emotional stress can increase inflammation and disrupt immune regulation, making fatigue, pain, and brain fog much worse.

🦠 3. Immune Triggers: Viral infections, certain foods, gut issues, environmental toxins, or other immune challenges can push an already sensitive immune system over the edge.

If you’re only treating symptoms without looking for the trigger, you may keep riding the same cycle over and over.

Your flares are trying to tell you something. The goal isn’t just to suppress them—it’s to understand what’s driving them.

Which one do you think affects you the most: hormones, stress, or immune triggers? Let me know in the comments. 👇

👉 1: Check for inflammation triggers
Ask yourself:

* Did I eat more sugar, alcohol, or ultra-processed foods yesterday?
* Did I get poor sleep?
* Am I coming down with something?

Inflammation often shows up as fatigue, brain fog, and joint pain before anything else.

👉 2: Hydrate and replenish electrolytes
Even mild dehydration can worsen:

* Fatigue
* Brain fog
* Muscle and joint discomfort

Start your day with water and consider adding electrolytes, especially if you’ve been sweating, fasting, or drinking caffeine.

👉 3: Get sunlight and move your body
A 10–20 minute walk outside can:

* Improve circulation
* Support energy production
* Reduce stiffness
* Help reset your circadian rhythm

Movement is often the last thing you feel like doing—but it’s frequently what helps most.

If this is happening regularly, don’t just normalize it. Persistent fatigue, brain fog, and joint pain can be linked to issues like thyroid dysfunction, nutrient deficiencies, autoimmune conditions, poor sleep, or blood sugar imbalances.

We don’t order testing just to do it! It gives us great insight about the functionality of someone and what’s areas we need to focus on! Before we recommend anything though, I try to ask myself some questions beforehand…

1. “Will this test change what we do next?”
If the answer won’t affect treatment, lifestyle recommendations, monitoring, or referrals, the test may not be justified.

2. “Is this the right timing for the test?”
Hormones, cortisol, glucose, inflammatory markers, iron studies, and even thyroid markers can shift based on sleep, stress, illness, menstrual cycle, fasting status, exercise, and medications. Poor timing creates misleading data.

3. “What problem are we actually trying to solve?”
Are you screening, confirming a suspicion, tracking progress, ruling something out, or giving reassurance? Testing without a clear clinical question often leads to overtesting and confusing results.

We don’t order testing just to look comprehensive, we do it be comprehensive and make better decisions!

Having liquid bowel movements for over a year is no way to live. This is one of the worst tests I’ve ever seen!

What are your symptoms telling you? If you have Hashimoto’s, it can look different in what your body is actually saying.

05/27/2026

If you’ve been told that your thyroid antibodies are the only thing that matters, you’ve been mislead. High inflammation can drive an increase in antibody production and a host of other problems. Digging in to potential immune system and inflammatory triggers is the first step in getting better!

Comment “Hashimotos” and we’ll send you more information on how to get testing done.
