Everyone asks about the bedroom. Almost nobody asks this one.

"What happens if it does not work out?"

Ask it on the tour, out loud. A good provider answers it calmly, because they have a process and they have used it. If the room goes quiet, you have learnt something useful.

You usually get one visit to decide. Here is what to look at while you are there.

Doorways and bathroom. Who is on overnight. The other residents. The street outside. Who handles health needs. How a concern gets raised. And what happens if it does not work out.

Ask all seven. A good provider will not flinch.

Registered is doing a lot of work in provider marketing right now. It is worth knowing what sits behind it.

Complete Choice holds 14 registration groups approved by the NDIS Commission, current through December 2027. That covers housing, community nursing, personal care, community participation and support coordination. Approved, not self-declared.

It is the difference between a provider who can take the whole plan and one who can take a piece of it.

Placements rarely stall on care. They stall on handovers.

Split providers with nobody owning the join. A home toured too late to rule out early. Evidence nobody chased on day one.

SIL is a permanent home with support on site. MTA is up to 90 days while your long-term home is sorted. STA is a short stay or respite.

What does NDIS registered actually mean?

It means the provider is independently audited, follows NDIS standards, meets worker-screening requirements, and has clear responsibilities around safety and reporting.

When comparing SIL providers, don’t be afraid to ask:
“Are you NDIS registered?”
