The word depression makes most of us picture crying, or not being able to get out of bed. So when it turns up as a short fuse, or as not caring much about anything any more, it is easy to rule yourself out.
That is part of why it goes unnamed for so long. It does not match the picture.
It is also easy to talk yourself out of asking for help while you are still managing. Still going to work, still getting everyone where they need to be, still answering the phone. Holding it together is not proof that you are doing fine.
If some of what is in this carousel feels familiar, it is worth a conversation. Not because there is something wrong with you, but because you do not have to keep working it out on your own.
Save it, or send it to someone you have been a bit worried about.
We offer counselling for ages five and up in Bacchus Marsh and Stanhope, and telehealth Australia wide.
