Embodied Wisdom Counselling and Somatics

Embodied Wisdom Counselling and Somatics I’m Stephanie, a Registered Social Worker and founder of Embodied Wisdom. We work in a collaborative way to allow integration to unfold.

I offer somatic, experiential trauma therapy for adults feeling stuck in anxiety, depression, or unresolved trauma. I am a Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant™ and Registered Social Worker. I believe that food an emotions are deeply entwined, and when we get right down to looking at the roots of issues, understanding our nutrition and imbalances are pivotal to creating a healthy sustainable

lifestyle. We can't make good choices if we don't knowhow, or if we believe we can't. I work with people to help develop an understanding of their beliefs around food and finding a way to move toward health in a supportive partnership, not a dictatorship. I love seeing people change their perspective on food, and fall in love with themselves again, it's a true gift to help someone find their confidence and health! I offer a number of supportive services including healthy weight loss & lifestyle group programs, private nutritional assessment, one on one coaching, meal planning, workshops and more! Let's connect if you think you might be interested in learning more about how I can serve you!

I am in it right now.
A big growth edge. Something I have been circling for a while. The decision has been made. Not even that deep down, honestly. Pretty close to the surface.
And everything between here and actually doing it? That is just me negotiating with fear and old wounds.
There is something nobody really tells you about growth: sometimes the scariest part is not that it won't work. It is the quiet terror of what happens if it does. What changes. What you have to let go of. Who you become on the other side.
I work with this with people every day and I am not immune to it. Not even close.
If you are standing at your own edge right now, I see you. The gap between knowing and doing is where all the negotiating happens.
Keep going anyway.

Something I’m slowly learning.
The more I show up for myself, the more other people want to show up with me.

Not because I performed it. Not because I convinced anyone of anything. But because something in me settled, and that settling became an invitation.

We are ripples.

What I do here and in my own life outside of work touches you. What you do there touches someone else. And somewhere down the line, a person you’ll never meet feels a little less alone because of something that started with you deciding to choose yourself today.

That’s not small. That’s hone create change on a global scale.

We were never meant to do this alone. And when we stop pretending we have to, something shifts. Not just in us, but in the whole room. The whole neighborhood. The whole nervous system of the world.

Come home to yourself. Your authenticity, your values, your inner knowing.

Those ripples are worth showing up for. Every single day. 🌅

Caught in the act. 🎶

In my defence, this is actually therapeutic, promise!

For as long as I can remember I have loved a good car concert. It has always just been a happy place for me. Turns out there is a reason for that.

Here’s the science:

Singing activates the vagus nerve through the vibration of the vocal cords, which directly stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system. The part of your nervous system responsible for rest, digestion, and feeling safe in your body.
Belting your favourite song in the car is not just a vibe. It is a legitimate nervous system regulation tool.
Humming works too. So does chanting, toning, and singing badly with the windows down at full volume.
The body does not need it to be pretty, perfect or on key. It just needs the vibration.

So next time someone catches you singing at a red light, just tell them it’s good for the body and soul!

Building your capacity to experience the world isn't just about building the ability to feel the hard things.

So often it is about being able to orient towards joy, pleasant, comfort, and wonder.

Noticing the moments of beauty and staying with them longer than you could previously is a beautiful sign of your systems growth. Orienting to what's pleasant is equally a skill as staying with what's challenging.

Healing moves in spirals.
We revisit things.
We come back around.
We touch something and step away, and then return a little closer.

If it feels like you are covering the same ground again, that is not a sign you have failed or gone backward. That is the nature of the work.
You are returning with more capacity than you had last time. The territory may look familiar. But you are different.

Keep going.

You have been in survival mode so long that safety feels suspicious.
I get it. That makes complete sense.

The nervous system that learned to stay alert, stay busy, stay productive, learned that for a reason. It was protecting you. Doing exactly what it was designed to do.

But at some point, the protection becomes the pattern. And the pattern starts running the show even when the original threat is long gone.
Somatic work is not about shutting that down. It is about gently, slowly, helping the system learn that something different is possible now.

Rest is allowed. Comfort is allowed. You are allowed to take up space in your own life without earning it first.

Why we slow down in somatic work.
Here is why one of the core elements is titration. Tiny tiny doses of building capacity gives or system repeated experiences of being able to find our way back to baseline without getting swept away.
