HEEL PAIN? ARCH PAIN? šŸ‘£

If plantar fasciitis is making those first steps in the morning painful, keeping you from your usual activities, or simply refusing to settle down, it may be time to have it assessed.

At Footprint Health & Wellness Centre, our Chiropodists offer Shockwave Therapy as one of the treatment options that may be recommended for plantar heel and arch pain.

Shockwave Therapy uses targeted acoustic waves and is commonly used as part of a treatment plan for persistent plantar fasciitis.

Your appointment starts with an assessment to determine what is actually causing your pain and which treatment options are appropriate for you.

āš ļø A little graphic, but THIS is why that toenail had to go.

Take a look at the massive nail spike hiding along the side of this patient’s toenail. 😳

After dealing with chronic, painful ingrown toenail issues, we performed a Total Nail Avulsion (TNA) to remove the entire nail and address the source of the problem.

Yes, there’s a little blood. That’s all part of a surgical procedure like this, and everything is performed using sterile technique in our procedure room.

Our patient is now at home following the procedure, with aftercare instructions provided for the healing process.

If you’re constantly cutting, digging at, or struggling with an ingrown toenail, it may be time to have it properly assessed.

Your indoor shoes might be trying to tell you something šŸ‘€

I’m a big fan of supportive indoor footwear, especially cork sandals, but they don’t last forever.

Take a look at the back of the heel of your sandals. If the cork is cracking, breaking down, or the heel looks visibly worn or tilted, that’s a pretty good sign they’ve reached the end of their life.

And yes… these are mine in the video. šŸ˜…

I’ve been wondering why my ankle has been a little sore lately, and then I actually looked at my sandals. Safe to say, these are DONE.

Even a great supportive shoe can start working against you once it’s significantly worn down.

So this is your reminder (and apparently mine šŸ˜‚): check the wear pattern on your indoor shoes!

Heel pain doesn’t have to become your normal.

Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain, especially if those first few steps out of bed make you wince. The good news? Many people improve with the right diagnosis, supportive footwear, stretching, activity modification, and a personalized treatment plan.

Every case is different, which is why it’s important to identify what’s actually causing your heel pain before starting treatment.

If heel pain has been slowing you down, we’re here to help.

Is your child complaining of heel pain? šŸ‘£

One of the most common causes of heel pain in active kids is Sever’s disease. But before assuming that’s the cause, it’s important to have their feet assessed, as several conditions can cause similar symptoms.

If it is Sever’s disease, conservative treatment is often very effective and may include stretching, footwear recommendations, heel lifts or orthotics when appropriate, and activity modifications.

The sooner you know what’s causing the pain, the sooner your child can get back to the activities they love.

Heel pain slowing you down?

If every step hurts, especially first thing in the morning, shockwave therapy may help.

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that stimulates your body’s natural healing response and can be an effective option for conditions like plantar fasciitis.

Not sure if it’s right for you? We’d be happy to assess your heel pain and discuss your treatment options.

Are your heels dry and cracked this summer?

Summer is sandal season, and for many people that means dry, rough, or even painful cracked heels become much more noticeable.

While moisturizing is important, it isn’t always enough. Thick, built-up skin often needs to be safely reduced before creams can properly do their job.

At Footprint, we can assess what’s causing your cracked heels and recommend the best treatment plan, whether that’s professional callus care, advice on the right moisturizers, or changes to your footwear.

Healthy heels don’t just look better, they feel better too.

Book an appointment today and give your feet the care they deserve.
