Elements Music Therapy & Counselling Experience Music Therapy & Counselling
No previous musical training or experience necessary. No previous musical experience necessary.

Music Therapists (MTAs) are trained to provide music therapy interventions within the context of a therapeutic relationship. We use music to address human needs within cognitive, communicative, emotional, musical, physical, social, and spiritual domains. Within the counselling relationship, we conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, implement therapeutic interventions, and evaluate progress.

Music therapists also use various active and receptive intervention techniques according to the needs and preferences of the individuals with whom they work. These techniques include, but are not limited to, singing, listening to music, instrumental improvisation, composing music, and moving to music.

๐ŸŽถ
Music captures what words sometimes miss.

Often, when weโ€™re searching for meaning behind the feelings, thoughts, and sensations weโ€™re experiencing, it can be hard to put them into words. Music has a way of bringing language and feelings forward, helping to uncover and capture the true essence of what weโ€™re experiencing.

In music therapy and counselling, music can create a space to explore whatโ€™s beneath the surface. Sometimes giving voice to something we didnโ€™t yet know how to say.
Sometimes, the right song can say what we canโ€™t.
And we will help you find the words.

"Therapy is a dress rehearsal for life." โ€” Irvin Yalom ๐ŸŽญ

In session, you get to test new ways of speaking, setting boundaries, and sitting with hard emotions.

โญTrying out the words you've been too scared to say.
โญPracticing what it feels like to ask for what you need.
โญSitting with a feeling instead of running from it.

It is where you get to build the courage you'll carry in every moment and every relationship.

And we're honored to be part of your process~

Some days, the right words are hard to find. That's where music steps in, holding space for whatever you're feeling, no explanation needed.

Kinda chic, no? ๐ŸŽต

The World Congress of Music Therapy in Bologna was a treat, with a mix of learning, camaraderie, sweltering heat, and good food ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ

At this global gathering of music therapists, I am reminded that while we may operate in various ways, we are more similar than we are different. I am leaving this conference holding on to the core elements of our work (as highlighted by Filippo Giordano, PhD) which include:
๐ŸŽถ Building connection and relationships
๐ŸŽถ Using music as our primary medium
๐ŸŽถ Presence and attunement in the moment
๐ŸŽถ Flexibility and adaptability to changing environments

Music therapists can help people reach places they didn't know existed. And we do not take this for granted.

"CONNECTING BORDERS, through music therapy"

Looking forward to in Thailand! ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ญ

Recently, Jacob Collier received an Honorary Doctorate from the Berklee College of Music, and in his commencement speech, he spoke about how music runs on the same things that make life worth living: trust, empathy, courage, persistence. And he told the graduates something simple but powerful โ€” trust the people close to you, and care about their success as much as your own.

And this stuck with me.

Because that's the foundation music therapy is built on too.

Music is never really separate from everyday life; the patience it takes to wait for the right moment in a piece of music is the same patience it takes in a hard conversation, the trust it takes to improvise alongside someone is the same trust it takes to be vulnerable with a friend.

In music therapy and counselling, we lean in to that overlap. Music mirrors the processes of life, and we are here to celebrate you and your accomplishments.

What if you felt truly heard...
...without saying a single word?

โญMusic can do that. And that's exactly where music therapy begins.

Weโ€™ve sat with people who came in not knowing what they needed and only knowing that words weren't quite reaching it. Music has a way of getting there first, of holding something before you're ready to name it.

Music therapy and counselling is a space where something in you gets to be heard.

If you're curious what a session feels like, weโ€™d love to show you.
