Hearing aids aren’t always one-size-fits-all. 🦻🏼

For those with significant hearing loss in one ear, CROS and BiCROS hearing aids can help make sounds from your poorer-hearing side easier to hear.

But what’s the difference between the two? Swipe through to learn which system may be recommended and how they work. ➡️

Things hearing aid practitioners wish everyone knew…

There’s a lot more to hearing healthcare than simply turning up the volume. Here’s a little more behind each one:

1. Hearing loss isn’t just an “older person” thing.
Hearing changes can happen at any age. Noise exposure, genetics, certain medications and other factors can all play a role.

2. Turning up the volume isn’t always the answer.
Hearing loss can affect certain frequencies more than others, which means making everything louder doesn’t necessarily make speech clearer.

3. You might notice the signs before you notice the hearing loss.
Turning up the TV, asking “what?” more often, struggling to follow conversations in noisy places, or feeling like everyone is mumbling can all be signs worth checking out.

4. Hearing aids don’t give you “perfect” hearing overnight.
Hearing aids can make a huge difference, but your brain may need time to get used to hearing sounds it hasn’t been processing clearly.

5. Your hearing aids need maintenance too.
Wax, debris and everyday wear can affect performance. Regular cleaning, changing wax guards and proper maintenance help keep them working their best.

6. Earwax is normal!
Earwax actually helps protect your ears. But when too much builds up, it can affect hearing, cause discomfort and interfere with hearing aid performance.

7. You don’t have to wait until your hearing is “really bad.”
A hearing assessment can give you a baseline and help identify changes earlier. You don’t need to be struggling significantly before making hearing health part of your routine.

The more you know about your hearing, the better you can take care of it. ❤️

And with Ears To You, hearing healthcare can come right to your door. 🦻🏼

The mistake? 👇🏼

Expecting your hearing aids to give you perfect hearing right away.

Hearing aids can make an incredible difference, but they aren’t like putting on a pair of glasses and suddenly everything is crystal clear.

If you’ve been living with hearing loss for some time, your brain may need time to adjust to sounds it hasn’t been hearing clearly. Everyday noises like footsteps, running water, dishes clinking or even your own voice might suddenly sound different or louder than you remember.

That adjustment period is normal.

Your hearing aids may also need fine-tuning along the way. Follow-up appointments allow your hearing care provider to make adjustments based on your experiences in the real world.

🦻🏼 Give yourself time to adjust
🧠 Let your brain relearn those sounds
🎧 Wear your hearing aids consistently
🔧 Attend your follow-up appointments
💬 Tell your practitioner what is and isn’t working

The goal isn’t “perfect” hearing overnight. It’s helping you hear, communicate and connect more comfortably over time.

New hearing aids? Be patient with yourself and the process.

Today, we’re sharing some very sad news from our Ears To You Family 💙

You may have seen Flynn pop-up on some of our posts or stories over the years. He was more than just Trisha’s dog. He was a special part of the Ears To You Team and brought so much love, joy, and happiness to those around him.

He was always there for the team, whether he was keeping Trish company, greeting everyone with a sweet personality, attending our monthly meetings, or simply being by our side. His presence will be deeply missed.

Our hearts are with Trish and her family as they navigate this difficult loss.

Flynn, thank you for all the love and happiness you brought into our lives. You will always be a part of the Ears To You Family. 🐾 🌈

Rest peacefully, sweet boy.

Meet the team behind Ears To You Calgary

At Ears To You, we believe hearing healthcare should be accessible, compassionate, and centered around the people we serve. Our team is dedicated to bringing professional hearing care directly into the community and supporting each client throughout their hearing journey.

Meet Trish, Owner of Ears To You Calgary.
With over a decade of experience in hearing care, Trish recognized the need for a more accessible approach to hearing healthcare. After years in a traditional clinic setting, she was inspired to create a service that could bring care directly to individuals and families who face mobility or transportation challenges. Since joining Ears To You in 2023 and becoming the Calgary franchise owner later that year, Trish has continued to grow the clinic with a focus on compassionate care and community connection.

Meet Christa, Director of Operations & Partnerships and Social Media Manager.
With over 12 years of experience in Ophthalmology and hospital-based healthcare, Christa brings a strong background in patient care, operations, and community engagement. She is passionate about building relationships and helping make healthcare experiences more accessible, supportive, and personalized.

Meet Catalina, Audiometric Technician.
Catalina holds a Bachelor’s degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and brings a passion for patient-centered hearing care. Fluent in both Spanish and English, she enjoys helping clients feel comfortable and supported throughout their hearing journey. Catalina also leads our Industrial Hearing Testing Program, helping workplaces prioritize hearing protection and prevention.

Outside of the clinic, our team enjoys spending time with family, exploring the outdoors, and making the most of everything Alberta has to offer.

We are proud to be a part of the Calgary community and look forward to continuing to support you and your loved ones with accessible hearing care. 💙🦻🏼

Not your typical clinic job 🦻🏼

At Ears To You, no two days have to look the same.

Instead of working within the same four walls every day, we bring hearing care directly into the community. From homes and senior communities to workplaces, events and our mobile clinic, we meet people where they are.

We’re looking for a Registered Hearing Aid Practitioner or Audiologist who wants more variety, more connection and a different approach to hearing care.

Ready to take your career beyond the traditional clinic?

We’d love to hear from you.
