๐Ÿ’™ Help Us Make Some Noise About Pre-Eclampsia! ๐Ÿ’™

Weโ€™re honoured to be supporting the Cara HELLPs Fundraiser again this year!

Pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome can have devastating consequences for both mom and baby. They can develop during pregnancy or even after delivery, and because symptoms arenโ€™t always obvious, awareness can make a difference.

The Cara HELLPs fundraiser was created by Jill Young in memory of her daughter, Cara, who tragically passed away from HELLP syndrome and pre-eclampsia at 35 weeks pregnant. Jill has turned an unimaginable loss into an opportunity to educate, raise awareness, and help fund research aimed at better recognizing, treating, and preventing pre-eclampsia.

This is a cause that deserves our attentionโ€”and our voices. ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ’™ Letโ€™s Make Some Noise About Pre-Eclampsia ๐Ÿ’™

Lakeview Physiotherapy is proud to once again be a sponsor of the Cara HELLPs Fundraiser, supporting awareness, education, research, and prevention of pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome.

Pre-eclampsia can be a silent and life-threatening complication of pregnancy, and it can also occur after delivery. We want to help make some noise about this important condition so that more people recognize the signs, understand the risks, and have access to the care and research needed to save lives.

The Cara HELLPs initiative was started by Jill Young, who tragically lost her daughter, Cara, to HELLP syndrome and pre-eclampsia at just 35 weeks of pregnancy. Jillโ€™s story is a heartbreaking reminder of why awareness and research are so important. While she has the incredible joy of being a grandmother to Blakely, the loss of Cara continues to run deep. ๐Ÿ’™

๐ŸŽ‰ Welcome to the Lakeview team, Johnny! ๐ŸŽ‰

Weโ€™re excited to welcome Johnny to Lakeview Physiotherapy & Movement Studio! ๐Ÿ‘‹

Johnny earned his Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Sydney and has continued his education with advanced training in dry needling (Elevate Level II), Mulligan techniques for the upper quadrant, and Fascial Stretch Therapy Level 1.

Before becoming a physiotherapist, Johnny worked as a personal trainer at the University of Alberta, helping clients improve their fitness, prevent injuries, and stay active in the sports and activities they love.

He has experience treating a wide range of conditions, including muscle and ligament injuries, arthritis, joint replacements, motor vehicle accident injuries, and neck and back pain. Johnny believes that understanding your diagnosis is an important part of recovery and takes the time to create a personalized treatment plan for each client. His approach combines education, hands-on manual therapy, and individualized exercise to help people achieve lasting results.

As an athlete who successfully recovered from an ACL injury and returned to competitive track and field, Johnny understands the physical and mental challenges that come with rehabilitation. He brings that firsthand experience to his practice, supporting clients from the early stages of injury through to a confident return to full function. ๐Ÿ’ช

Outside the clinic, youโ€™ll find Johnny rock climbing, hiking, or weight training. He is also fluent in Cantonese and conversational in Mandarin, allowing him to connect with and care for clients in the language they are most comfortable using.

Weโ€™re so happy to have you on the team, Johnny! Welcome to Lakeview! ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿคฐ Feel your best throughout pregnancy with Prenatal Pilates!

We're thrilled to be adding a new Prenatal Pilates class to our schedule this fall with our newest Pilates Instructor, Katie!

Starting September 14, join us every Monday at 6:00 PM for a class designed to help you move confidently through every stage of pregnancy.

Each session focuses on:
๐Ÿ’› Building strength to support your growing body
๐Ÿ’› Improving posture, balance, and mobility
๐Ÿ’› Connecting with your core and pelvic floor
๐Ÿ’› Learning breathing and movement strategies to prepare for labour and postpartum recovery

Whether you're new to Pilates or have experience, Katie will provide modifications to help you exercise safely and comfortably throughout your pregnancy.

A bonus that many moms love? Our small class setting gives you the chance to meet other expectant moms who are on a similar journey. It's a welcoming space to move, learn, ask questions, and build connections before your little one arrives.

โœจ Even better: This is a PTA-led class, making it billable under physiotherapy benefits (where applicable).
