Manual Osteopath, RMT
https://balancedbodytherapy.janeapp.com/ From head to toe, there's something for you!

Balanced Body Therapy incorporates several modalities to identify & resolve the root cause of what is holding your body back from being pain free & fully mobile. Vertigo & head injuries, carpel tunnel, range of motion, digestive or sleep issues, alignment of the spine and hips, etc. Some of the basics of each modality provided at Balanced Body Therapy are:

Manual Osteopathy: a gentle, non-invas

ive, holistic approach to restoring balance and mobility to all aspects of the body. Includes structural alignment of the hips, spine and other joints gently and painlessly, mobilization of the organs, Cranial Osteopathy (corrective craniosacral work) and fascial manipulation. Massage Therapy (Osteopathic Massage): helps improve circulation and reduce overall tension, wonderful for general aches and pains, relaxation. Typically includes aspects of osteopathic work relevant to your specific needs. Movement Therapy/Hanna Somatics: muscles do not hold tension without signals being sent from the brain. Hanna Somatic Movements allow you to sense the tension your muscles are holding onto and teaches you how to release this tension. The movements are painless and often the hidden element that's been missing from your treatments. Equine and Canine Hanna Somatics: mobile work is provided for working with horses and dogs! Lameness, general health, lead issues, and more are addressed with these treatments

One phrase you'll hear me use often is: **Creating space.**

Creating space for joints to move.

Creating space for fascia to glide.

Creating space for nerves to communicate.

Creating space for fluids to circulate.

Creating space for the nervous system to stop bracing and start functioning.

But what does that actually mean?
When a joint loses mobility, the tissues around it become compressed. Muscles start working harder than they should. Fascia loses its ability to glide smoothly. Circulation can become less efficient. The body begins creating compensation patterns to work around the restriction.

That's where treatment comes in.

Using Manual Osteopathy, I assess how the entire body is moving and identify where motion has been lost.
Sometimes that means restoring movement between joints.
Sometimes it means releasing fascial restrictions that are pulling on structures elsewhere in the body.
Sometimes it means improving rib cage mobility so you can breathe more efficiently.
Sometimes it means helping the nervous system recognize that it no longer needs to keep a particular area guarded and protected.

As restrictions are reduced, the body gains options. Joints can move through their full range. Muscles don't have to work as hard. Nerves have less compression. Fluids circulate more effectively. The brain receives better information from the body.

This is why someone may come in with shoulder pain, but I spend time working through the ribs, spine, neck, diaphragm, or even the pelvis.

The goal is to restore space and movement within the system so the body can do what it was designed to do.

Most healthcare looks at the body in pieces.
A shoulder.
A knee.
A neck.

However, everything is intricately connected.

The way you breathe affects your posture.
Your jaw can influence your pelvis.
A restriction in your rib cage can contribute to shoulder pain.
An old ankle injury can change how your entire body moves.

This is why I treat the body as an integrated system.

Instead of treating singular symptoms, I look for the relationships between structures, movement patterns, and the nervous system. Whole body wellness.

In osteopathy and somatics, we pay very close attention to ribcage mobility.
Freeing your breath can ease:
✔️ Anxiety
✔️ Shoulder tension
✔️ Low back pain
✔️ Energy slumps

You don't need to "breathe better." You just need to move better so your body can.

Many people are surprised to learn that Manual Osteopathy has been practiced since the 1800s.
Its foundation is simple: structure and function are interconnected.

When the body moves well, it tends to function well. When mobility is restricted, compensation patterns develop, and over time those compensations can contribute to pain, dysfunction, and decreased performance.

This is why I don't look at symptoms in isolation.
Manual Osteopathy views the body as an integrated system, assessing and addressing:
✔ Muscles
✔ Joints and bones
✔ Fascia
✔ Organs
✔ Fluids
✔ The craniosacral system
✔ Nerves

For example, if someone comes in with shoulder pain, I don't just focus on the shoulder.
The source of the problem may involve the rib cage, spine, fascia, posture, breathing patterns, or movement compensations that have developed elsewhere in the body.
The shoulder may be where you *feel* the problem, but it isn't always where the problem *started.*

The body is incredibly intelligent. It will always find a way to keep you moving, even if that means creating compensations along the way.

My job is to identify those patterns, restore mobility, improve balance within the system, and help your body function the way it was designed to.

**Muscle is the organ of longevity.**

Most people don't realize we begin losing muscle mass as early as our 30s.
It's a gradual decline at first, but after age 60 the process accelerates significantly. Without intervention, adults can lose 3-8% of their muscle mass per decade, with the rate increasing later in life.

Why does this matter? Because muscle isn't just about strength or appearance.

Muscle helps:
✔ Maintain balance and prevent falls
✔ Support healthy joints
✔ Improve blood sugar regulation
✔ Protect bone density
✔ Increase metabolism
✔ Enhance recovery from illness and injury
✔ Maintain independence as we age

In other words, muscle is one of the greatest predictors of how well you'll age.

The good news? This isn't inevitable. Your body is incredibly adaptable at any age.

Strength training, adequate protein intake, quality sleep, proper recovery, and consistent movement can all help preserve and even build muscle well into your 60s, 70s, and beyond.

The old saying is true: **Use it or lose it.**

The choices you make today are building the body you'll live in tomorrow.

Future-you is watching. 💪

Most people assume a treatment is simply about loosening muscles or "putting things back into place."

The reality is much more fascinating. Every treatment is a conversation between your body and your nervous system.

As tension decreases, circulation improves. As circulation improves, tissues receive more oxygen and nutrients. As movement improves, your brain receives new information. As your brain receives new information, it can update old protective patterns.

This is why treatment isn't just physical. It's neurological. It's physiological. It's educational.

Whether I'm using Manual Osteopathy, Hanna Somatics, or a combination of approaches, the goal is the same:
To help your body move from protection toward function.

When the nervous system feels safer, everything else tends to work better.

🥩 Looking for a protein powder that isn't dairy-based?
Meet PurePaleo™ Protein.

This isn't your typical whey protein.

PurePaleo™ contains 21g of protein per serving from HydroBEEF™, a highly concentrated beef protein that's been hydrolyzed into smaller peptides for easier digestion, absorption, and utilization by the body.

Why do I love it?
✔️ Dairy-free
✔️ Paleo-friendly
✔️ Supports muscle recovery and growth
✔️ Provides the building blocks for healthy cartilage, ligaments, tendons, and connective tissue
✔️ Great option for those who are sensitive to whey or other dairy proteins

As someone who works with athletes, equestrians, active adults, and people recovering from injury, I'm always looking at ways to support the body beyond the treatment table. Protein isn't just about building muscle. It's essential for tissue repair, recovery, strength, and longevity.

The beef used in PurePaleo™ comes from animals raised in Sweden without hormones or antibiotics and is free from GMO grains, grasses, and ensilage.

Whether you're hitting the gym, spending long days at the barn, recovering from an injury, or simply trying to maintain muscle mass as you age, getting enough quality protein matters.

✨Happy National Senior Health & Fitness Day! ✨

Strength, mobility, and nervous system health matter MORE as we age.
They actually determine HOW you age.
Muscle mass starts declining as early as your 30s.

National Senior Health & Fitness Day is a reminder that longevity isn’t built later in life,
it’s built in the here and now.

The ability to move well, stay strong, prevent injury, and remain independent doesn’t happen by accident.

It comes from:
• consistent movement
• maintaining muscle mass
• supporting your nervous system
• taking care of your body before it forces you to

Use it or lose it isn’t just a saying. It’s physiology.

Your future self is being built by what you do today. 💪
