Want a great way to preserve the fresh basil flavour long after the garden is finished.

Try this salt method!

1/2 cup loosely packed fresh basil leaves
1/2 cup coarse sea salt or kosher salt

Really, you can use any ratio depending on how herb forward you want to go!

1. Wash the basil and dry it extremely well.
2. Add basil and salt to a food processor and pulse until the basil is finely chopped and evenly distributed. The salt will turn a gorgeous bright green.
3.Spread in a thin layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
4.Dry in a dehydrator or oven at around 105°F.
5. Once completely dry, pulse briefly again if it has clumped.
6. Store in an airtight glass jar in a cool, dark cupboard.

My favourite way to use it is sprinkled on tomato + fresh mozzarella with a drizzle of olive oil. It would also be perfect for:

🥑Avocado toast
🥚 Scrambled or fried eggs
🌽 Grilled corn
🥔Roasted potatoes
🍅Bruschetta
🍹Rim for a Caesar (yes, please!!)

🤩Pro Tip: don’t jar it until it is bone dry. Fresh herbs introduce moisture, and drying it thoroughly is what makes this a shelf-stable herb salt rather than a refrigerated mixture.

P.S. be adventurous! try doing this with other herbs too. Rosemary, thyme, garlic scapes, dill, mint all work well.

How else do you preserve your herbs? Commment below!

Having nothing on the to-do list might just be the biggest accomplishment of your week. So give yourself permission to have a little downtime this weekend. You deserve it.💕

After a full weekend of late nights, good eats, and fun with friends, I had the cabin to myself for the afternoon…All I wanted was a nap!!

Hey, sometimes rest is exactly what we need. But other times it’s to get off our butt and do what we love.

I get stuck too. Caught up in the reasons why it’s hard - the schedules, the aches, or the weather. But, TBH, often the only thing standing in the way is ME.

But that’s just being human with a human brain. Its also what makes every moment I’m glad I chose something to be proud of ❤️

I took my worm bin to the CBScommunitygarden this week for Show and Tell. 🪱

Worm castings are different from “fertilizer”. They are a biologically active amendment rich in plant-available nutrients and beneficial microbes.

These microbes help plants digest and absorb nutrients and resist disease. Kinda like what your gut microbes do for you! Cool, hey? 😎

This means stronger, healthier plants, higher yields, and more nutrients on your plate. 🤩

Would you compost using worms? What do you want to know? Ask away in the comments! 🌱

Many clients struggle with weekends. And, sometimes, I do too!

Whether you’re headed to the lake or just bagged after a busy week, weekends are for relaxing.

But with balance 😜

Have a loose plan, but leave room for flexibility. And don’t forget these habits that help you stay on track during the week:

☀️proper hydration

🥗veggies at every meal

💪protein to fuel your day

We all have days that get away from us. That’s ok, one off day never makes or breaks your health.

Consistency always wins.

Remember, healthy living should fit your life, not stop you from enjoying it. 💚

These curly green stems are only around for a short time each summer, and they’re one of the garden’s best-kept secrets. Mild, slightly sweet, and full of fresh garlic flavour, they’re delicious grilled, chopped into salads, blended into pesto, or added to stir-fries.

How do you use your garlic scapes?

The impressive line up of speakers included MDs, NDs, and Dr. Michael Gregor 3 time NYT bestselling author (I read them all!). His work & research informs the work I do with clients every day!

I have so much to digest and I can’t wait to share what I learned with clients ❤️

Nourishing a woman’s body is different. And so is nourishing a Mother’s.

When we feed our family we don’t just fuel their body, we nourish their potential, their resilience, and the people they will become.

When our kids fill their bellies we are satisfied as if we have just fed ourselves.

I can still taste my Mom’s seven layer dinner, the special chopped veggie salads she would make me, and the chats we would share over tea and toast.

Now, I understand these meals and moments nourished her as much as they nourished me.

Let this be a gentle reminder to take care of yourself, today and everyday, with good food, rest, and warm connections with the women who have nourished you along the way.

Happy Mothers Day 💕 Miss you Momma.
