Time on Salt Spring Island always feels a bit like a portal into a space where you forget there is a world beyond it.

Home now after assisting on a beautiful yoga and meditation farm retreat. Between the practices, the farm-to-table food, and the lovely community of women, it was pure nourishment.

We’ve been conditioned to think rest is lazy, but watching these souls intentionally slow down and put themselves first to replenish reminded me that true rest can be a highly active, sacred choice.

Feeling deeply grateful, fully restored, and calmly grounded.

I am really looking forward to this coming week on Thursday!

In preparation I'm currently away on Salt Spring Island helping assist at a Yoga and Meditation retreat. I have been grounding and opening here in ways I can feel will help me in facilitating sessions and a Rest Uncovered workshop during the festival. You can pre book a Generational Healing® session through my website; times still available Thursday to Saturday and my workshop will be Saturday morning.

We’ve been conditioned to believe that resting is sleep or the absence of work. That it’s "doing nothing", but physiologically, true rest is a highly active state.

When you intentionally slow down and rest, your body turns on the precise systems required for cellular repair, tissue rebuilding, and nervous system regulation. Your brain processes stress, your heart rate recovers, and your body actively restores its baseline energy.

Rest isn't a luxury you earn or something you should do once you hit depletion. It is literally a physiological requirement for your cells to rebuild.

If you have been running on empty, it might be time for a different approach.

Yesterday I had a moment that stopped me in the middle of washing the floor. A small but powerful moment of joyful reflection after almost slipping but rather than getting hard on myself for almost slipping I found myself going weeeee outloud! 😆

This shows me my nervous system has come a long way from how deregulated I once was. To not react by swearing, or have fear come up about how much I could have hurt myself, but a literal weeeeee out loud!

Sometimes progress and growth can show in the smallest of moments and at the oddest times, but I am here celebrating. Please know there is another way and the body can relearn new ways of being after burnout and deep depletion.💫💜

Returning to Salt Spring Island this week feels like a full-circle moment.

The last time I was there in 2024, I was exhausted and depleted, trying to restore myself from burnout.

During my stay, I went to a sound bath at Ganges Studio and now return this Thursday to host vs attend.

I'm looking forward to being back on the island and in the studio in a completely different energy, with a full heart, and a map to share that I wish I’d had when I was in that dark, exhausted space.
