Strong houses are built from the ground up. So are resilient bodies.

The foundation is rarely the first thing people notice.

Neither is fascia.

Neither is the nervous system.

Yet these hidden structures help support everything above them.

Bowen Therapy works from the understanding that the body is an interconnected whole, where unseen systems can influence how we move, adapt and respond to life.

Everyone is doing the best then can -
It’s time we pay attention to the symptoms and seek support and help for effective change.

At some point, “try harder” has to stop being the answer.

Because maybe the problem isn’t that you haven’t tried enough.
Perhaps you should stop asking, “What else can we try?”
..and start asking, “What are we missing?” Maaaaybe it’s time to test for Irlen.

Comment ‘TEST’ and we will send over a link.

I love this as I often say to people:
A fireman never arrives to a fire in panic mode. Calm regulated and ready!!!

Call today and book your Bowen appointment 📆

Pain, tension and fatigue are very good at getting our attention.

But what if they're not the problem?

What if they're the body's way of letting us know that something needs attention?

A smoke alarm isn't the fire.

It's a signal.

Bowen Therapy encourages us to look beyond the symptom and become curious about the bigger picture — how stress, movement patterns, previous injuries, workload, recovery, habits and nervous system responses may all be contributing.

Because understanding the message can be just as important as noticing the alarm.

Clearer with Colour - Irlen Screening shares various insight into other concerns that might be overl👀ked.

Visual stress in children doesn't always look like “I can't read.”

Sometimes the clues are much smaller...

👀 Constantly rubbing their eyes
🤕 Headaches after school
📖 Losing their place while reading
📚 Holding books really close
👁️ Saying the words move, blur or disappear
😴 Coming home exhausted after reading or schoolwork

Individually, you might think nothing of them.

Put them together, and like clues, they start to tell a story.

Small signs can have a big impact. 💜

If any of this sounds familiar, an Irlen Screening could help you understand what's going on.

📩 Message me and let's have a chat about your child.

FUN FACT FRIDAY and D is for DYSLEXIA! 📚

This means it’s time to clear up one of the biggest confusions I hear about Irlen/Visual Stress.

👉 Irlen Syndrome and Dyslexia are NOT the same thing.

✅ ️They can occur together.
✅️ They can also exist completely separately.
✅️ One does not automatically mean the other.

So please remember 👇

❌ Not every struggling reader is Dyslexic.
❌ Not every Dyslexic person experiences Visual Stress.
✅ And yes, the two can overlap.

This is why I think it's so important to look at the whole picture.

In my own family,I have two sons and whilst both have Irlen Syndrome, only one of them is Dyslexic as well.

Having Irlen Syndrome identified and the right colour in place helped my son's brain settle before he went through his Dyslexia assessment. His experience was that his reading improved massively as letters stayed still in the page and he could see them clearly, but he still struggled with phonics.

And this is the what you need to understand. Improving his visual processing didn't remove his dyslexia, it made it easier for us to support each issue for what it is.

And here's one for the workplace :

💼 If a member of your team tells you they're dyslexic but still finds reading, bright lights, screens or visually demanding work particularly difficult, visual stress could be another piece of the puzzle.

Curious yet?

💜 If reading takes more effort than it seems it should, let's talk about why.

Drop me a message or comment D and I'll tell you more about Irlen Screening.

These two hands!! 🙌 💕

One of the biggest surprises for new Bowen students?

It's not about learning to use more force.

It's about developing more awareness.

Awareness through your hands.

An appreciation of tissue response.

An understanding of why the pauses matter.

That's the difference precision makes.

Irlen Syndrome- it’s a family affair.

Research indicates a strong familial link, meaning if a parent has Irlen Syndrome, there is a significantly higher probability their children will experience similar visual processing sensitivities.

It is classified as a genetic, neuro-perceptual dysfunction where the brain’s visual cortex becomes overstimulated by certain light frequencies. Because brain structure and chemistry are hereditary, this processing style is passed down genetically.

The more you know 💫

The right key doesn't force the lock.

It simply fits.

Bowen Therapy follows a similar philosophy.

Rather than relying on force, Bowen uses gentle, precise moves with deliberate pauses, providing the body with carefully timed input and an opportunity to respond.

Sometimes the greatest skill isn't doing more.

It's knowing exactly what is needed.
