The Body Doesn't Know Your Job Title.

One of the most important leadership lessons I've learned in 34 years as both a healthcare practitioner and entrepreneur is this:

The body keeps score.

In my latest LinkedIN article in my Leadership Recovery Gap series, I explore the research behind the leadership "double bind" many women face, the hidden health costs of leadership pressure, and why the future of leadership isn't just about developing stronger leaders, it's about developing healthier ones.

If you're a leader, entrepreneur, healthcare professional, or someone carrying more than most people realize, I think this conversation matters.

Read the article below. šŸ‘‡

For more than three decades, I have had the privilege of viewing leadership through two very different lenses. The first is as a healthcare practitioner.

Confidence isn't what most people think it is.

"The people you admire most aren't necessarily more confident than you. They've simply learned to move forward before they feel ready."

Confidence isn't being fearless.
It's not having all the answers.
It's not perfection.

Confidence is taking the next step anyway.
It's failing forward, learning, growing, and trusting yourself along the way.

In my latest blog, I explore the biggest myth about confidence and what the science tells us about how confidence is actually built.

šŸ’œ Read it here:

I'd love to hear from you:

What has helped build your confidence over the years?

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about confidence. Not because I've suddenly figured it out. Quite the opposite. The more people I meet, the more successful individuals I interview, and the more conversations I have with healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, leaders, and everyday people, the more...

šŸš—āœØ The day is finally here!

REMS On The Road is one way to help bring this innovative bone health technology to more Canadians and make preventative health assessments more accessible to the communities we serve.

But none of this is possible without the collaboration of clinics and wellness partners who recognize the importance of prevention, education, and empowering people to become the CEO of their health.

A heartfelt thank you to Lisa and the incredible team at The Healing Nook for sharing that vision and helping bring REMS to the Smiths Falls community.

We’re excited to connect with you, answer your questions, and help you better understand your bone and muscle health so you can make informed decisions about your future health.

šŸ“ Smiths Falls — we’re coming your way!

See you soon! šŸ’™

Because prevention isn’t something we do to people, it’s something we empower people to participate in.

At The Healing Nook, we believe that healthy humans help create healthier families. Healthier families create stronger communities. Stronger communities means we ALL flourish! 😊

This is one reason we're excited to bring REMS on the Road, from Osteosound, to The Healing Nook on Tuesday June 2nd, for our first Scan & Stretch Day!

IMPORTANT āž”Recent changes to OHIP-funded bone density testing in Ontario have made access more challenging for many people, with stricter eligibility criteria and some individuals finding they no longer qualify for funded testing when they expected to. This can leave people waiting, uncertain, or feeling like they have fewer options for proactively monitoring their bone health.

A REMS bone scan offers an opportunity to learn more about your bone health without needing to meet OHIP funding criteria. It uses Ultrasound and Radio Frequency technology, involves NO radiation exposure, and can help provide information that supports a more proactive approach to wellness.

āž” Healthy bones and joints work together with healthy muscles and fascia. Fascia Stretch Therapy (FST) is designed to support mobility, flexibility, joint function, and how your body moves and feels day to day. When the body moves better, we often feel better...and supporting movement can be an important part of a proactive wellness lifestyle.

To give our community an opportunity to experience FST firsthand, 15 minute mini Fascia Stretch Therapy sessions will be available on the same day as the REMS bone scan appointments. What a perfect chance to explore another wellness approach and feel what FST is all about.

Empowered Wellness isn't about waiting for something to happen. It's about understanding your body now, making informed choices for the future and taking your wellness into your very own hands (notice The Healing Nook logo? šŸ˜‰šŸ˜‰)

Let's keep building a community that THRIVES...we are better together.🫶

Sometimes prevention whispers before it screams. šŸ’œWhen PHAMbassador , yoga instructor, super connector, and beautiful human inside and out sat down at the PHAMCAST table, she shared how her Apple Watch alerted her to a heart issue she had no idea was happening. That awareness changed everything.Today, Renee and I are attending a Eldoa workshop hosted by fellow PHAMbassador and brilliant cardiologist & functional medicine doctor, is such a powerful reminder of what happens when community, self-leadership, prevention, and collaboration come together. This is the ripple effect of women working better together.Real conversations. Real awareness. Real life-changing outcomes.

Bone Health in Canada Is Changing And People Need to Know

As a Registered Massage Therapist with 30+ years in musculoskeletal health, and founder of Preventative Health Awareness Month/Movement (PHAM), I’ve spent the last 3.5 working alongside Megan Buhrmester, Founder of OSTEOSOUND, brining the REMS bone scan technology to Canadians, supporting nearly 4,000 people and educating patients and practitioners.

Recent OHIP changes now:

āž”ļø Require FRAX scoring

āž”ļø Extend DEXA testing to 3–5 years for many patients

At a time when prevention should be increasing, access to monitoring is decreasing.

Here’s the reality:

1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men will fracture

Bone loss is often silent… until it’s not

But this doesn’t have to create fear, it can create action.

Bone quality and fracture prevention is influenced by many of our lifestyle decisions which are IN our control:

šŸ’Ŗ Progressive Resistance/Strength training

🄩 Protein intake

🌱 Vitamins and Minerals

😓 Sleep

🧠 Stress & hormonal health

And with newer tools like REMS, we can now measure more than density, we can track bone quality.

I received a call last week from a physician who believes in the PHAM movement and has been closely watching my posts and reading my blogs over the last 4. years.

She is concerned about these new OHIP changes and how they reduce the access to DEXA and this prompted an engaging and interesting conversation around early detection, prevention, lifestyle medicine, patient education/empowerment and the gap that REMS can fill for physicians like her who want to monitor their patients safely and accurately.

I wrote this blog in response to this conversation as I want to help Canadians understand what’s changing and what they CAN do about it.

Let’s shift the conversation from reaction → prevention → empowerment.

As a Registered Massage Therapist with over three decades in clinical practice, my lens has always been grounded in one core belief: Musculoskeletal health is the foundation of overall health. Bones are not just structures. They are living, dynamic tissues that reflect how we move, how we age, and h...

Sitting in gratitude this morning, reflecting on what the PHAM movement has brought into my life.

I think, at our core, most of us hope to leave a meaningful mark on this world.

We all carry a unique set of gifts, experiences, and perspectives that are ours alone and life is far too short and precious not to share them.

But here’s the truth, being authentic and bold is vulnerable.

It opens the door to criticism, to naysayers, and sometimes the loudest voice of all, the one in your own head:

Who are you to do that?
You don’t have the time.
You don’t have the skills.

I’ve learned something powerful on this journey:

If you feel called to do something, something others don’t yet see or fully understand,
do it anyway!

Going out on a limb can feel very uncomfortable, even unstable at times.

But that ā€œlimbā€ is often where growth happens. It’s where purpose lives.

When you quiet the noise, lean into the work, and commit to building the ā€œthingā€ you feel called to create, something incredible happens.

You don’t just change your own life—
you give others permission to do the same.

This morning, sitting in my sun-filled family room, I watched a squirrel, focused, determined, completely committed to its path.

No hesitation. No overthinking. Just action.

And it reminded me…

Purpose doesn’t wait for perfect conditions.
Impact doesn’t come from playing small.

My ā€œwhyā€ is simple:
To create a ripple effect of awareness, empowerment, and preventative health—so more people feel informed, capable, and in control of their well-being.

My mission:

To help individuals Become the CEO of their health, and to bring professionals, businesses, and communities together to create real, lasting change.

If you’ve been feeling that pull, that quiet nudge to do something bigger

This is your reminder.

Step out on the limb.
Trust yourself.
The world needs what only you can offer.

Grateful for the opportunity to join Mary Dilly on Savvy Seniors to share a message I care deeply about:

We all have the ability to become the CEO of our own health.

As a Consultant in Aging and Founder of PHAM (Preventative Health Awareness Movement), I believe that vitality isn’t reserved for a certain age, it’s something we can cultivate across the lifespan through education, awareness, and proactive choices.

This conversation is about shifting from reactive care to empowered, preventative living, because everyone deserves to age with strength, resilience, and dignity.
