Most women after cancer are avoiding one of the most powerful recovery nutrients they have because of fears that the research doesn't support.
And I get it. When you've had cancer, you want to do everything right. So when something sounds scary online, you cut it out. Just to be safe.
But here's what I believe after years of working with women in recovery: protein is one of the most important tools your body has after treatment. For healing tissue, rebuilding muscle, protecting bones, supporting your immune system, and stabilizing your weight and energy.
That doesn't mean every fear around protein is completely made up. Some of the concerns (glutamine, mTOR, methionine, IGF-1, animal protein) are rooted in real research. They're just being applied without context.
And that's the problem.
Because in nutrition, almost nothing is all good or all bad. It's about understanding the full picture โ the benefits, the risks, where the evidence is strong, and where it isn't.
This week's episode on The Flourish After Cancer Podcast covers all of it โ the science, the nuance, and exactly what your body needs after cancer treatment.
