Consent is not a single moment. It is a relationship. 🧡

Too often, consent is treated like a checkbox : a signature that closes a door instead of opening one.

A culturally safe approach asks more gently:
“What do you need to feel informed?”
“Who do you want beside you?”
“What would make this feel safer for you?”

Through WHIM, we understand wellness as woven through mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual life. Intake becomes a relational beginning when it honours all of these : and the community you belong to.

You may change your mind. You may ask for more time. You may bring a loved one or an Elder. You may begin again later.

Consent is trust being cared for over time, not demanded at the door. 🧡

What would it feel like to know that before any question is asked, you are already respected?

Relational Security™ grows when people feel they can say: “I understand, I agree, and I am still in choice.”

Before the paperwork, there is the person. 🧡

A relational beginning means the intake process itself becomes an act of care : not just a step to get through.

What could that look like?
đź’› A warm welcome that names the land and the people you are with
đź’› Plain language that explains why each question is asked
đź’› Space for your culture, your relationships, and your own words
đź’› The freedom to ask questions, pause, or decline

Through WHIM, we honour the four quadrants of your being: mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual. Two-Eyed Seeing lets Indigenous ways of knowing and clinical knowledge sit together with respect.

Consent grows in relationship. It is not trust demanded up front; it is trust cared for over time.

What would a truly welcoming first appointment look like to you? 🧡

Relational Security™ begins the moment you feel: “I am seen, not just processed.”

What if the first step in care was not answering questions, but knowing you have choices? 🧡

A culturally safe intake begins by making room for the whole person : their relationships, community, culture, strengths, and hopes.

You deserve to know why questions are being asked, who will see your information, and what happens next. You can pause. You can ask for an explanation. You can bring someone you trust. You can say, “not yet.”

Consent is not a signature collected once. It is an ongoing conversation shaped by respect, clarity, and trust.

Through WHIM, this relational beginning honours the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual dimensions of wellness. When people experience choice, dignity, and cultural safety, the doorway to support feels different.

What helps you feel safe enough to begin? 🧡

Returning to Centre™ can begin with one honest question: “What do I need to feel respected here?”

It took me awhile to upload this video because I was struggling to get my words out smoothly, but again I’m taking a risk and just letting my brain heal out in public. I think it’s important for everyone to be able to see what happens when I have to think quickly about what I’m trying to say. Hopefully over time, we will all start to see it improving 🙏🏽 Thabks for being patient, compassionate, kind & supportive 🧡

How do you care for your own spirit today? 🧡

In the East Quadrant of the Wahkohtowin Holistic Integration Model™, Relational Expression™ asks us what we do with our bodies, our hands, and our whole selves to nurture what is sacred within us.

Our Elders teach that caring for the spirit is woven into everything : the way we greet the morning sun, prepare food, or walk softly on the land. It is not a separate task; it is a way of being.

🌿 A Simple Offering to Yourself:
Greet this day as the Elders do. Step outside, feel the earth beneath your feet, breathe in the summer air, and give thanks. Ask: "What does my spirit need today to feel at home?"

When we care for our own spirit, we are better able to care for one another. This is Relational Security™ in action ; inner wellbeing flowing outward. 🧡

Returning to Centre™ begins in how gently we treat ourselves. LOVE LOVE LOVE! 🧡🧡🧡

Have you ever sat quietly with an Elder, listening more than speaking? 🧡

In the East Quadrant of the Wahkohtowin Holistic Integration Model™, Relational Expression™ asks: "What do I do?" Sometimes, the truest expression of care is simply being present and listening.

Our Elders hold wisdom carried for generations : knowledge of the land, of seasons, of how to live in harmony. When we sit with them, we receive more than words; we receive a living connection to our roots. This is spiritual care in its gentlest form.

🌿 A Practice of Reverence:
1. Choose one memory, story, or teaching from an Elder that stays with you.
2. Sit with it today, the way you would sit with a warm fire.
3. Ask: "How does this wisdom guide how I care for myself and others?"

Honouring our Elders honours the whole circle. Relational Security™ grows when we remember those who came before and carry their wisdom forward. 🧡

Returning to Centre™ is listening to the land and each other. LOVE LOVE LOVE! 🧡🧡🧡
