Today is the 53rd anniversary of the passing of the great JRR Tolkien, one of the infamous Inklings and creator of Hobbits. I haven't usually been drawn to his passing but several synchronicities with friends have nudged me to look closer.
One of those synchronicities lies in his Creativity Sphere of 50.5. That exact Gene Key and line number has surfaced many times for me this week in charts I have viewed. So it holds something for me. And his creativity is the very thing he is remembered for.
Spider is the fear key of the 50th Gene Key and Shelob was most definitely a spider that instilled fear in the young me. It is the weaver of worlds, just like Tolkien himself became with Middle Earth.
For me perhaps the writing that most evokes the themes of this key are the first pages of the Silmarillion when the world of his came into existence.
"In the beginning Eru, the One, who in the Elvish tongue is named Ilúvatar, made the Ainur of his thought; and they made a great Music before him. In this Music the World was begun; for llúvatar made visible the song of the Ainur, and thev beheld it as a light in the darkness. And many among them became enamoured of its beauty, and of its history which they saw beginning and unfolding as in a vision. There- fore Ilúvatar gave to their vision Being, and set it amid the Void. and the Secret Fire was sent to burn at the heart of the World: and it was called Eä.'
The harmony of spheres, of worlds coming together.
It then proceeds to engage us in the evolutionary journey of this world born of music, including the birth of corruption and the rise of evil.
I needn't say anything more as I am sure you know at least some of the story.
Many more keys capture my attention but this week it is this key and line number. I will continue to journey with it.
I have so much that I want to share about this genius and his coconspirators in the Inklings - CS Lewis, Charles Williams & Owen Barfield being the most well known.
In the meantime I celebrate a man who has inspired millions during and since his passing.
