Milton Erickson was an American psychiatrist and psychologist practicing in the mid-twentieth century. His style of hypnosis uses vague, permissive language with metaphors and storytelling.
One of the foundational insights of Ericksonian hypnosis is that conscious effort isn’t always the key to change. In fact, it can sometimes get in the way. It’s the unconscious, responsive part of you that holds the power to move, to heal and to transform.
