When I’m the patient, I fluctuate between the insta-cry and suppressor so what a fun time that must be for my therapist 😅

I’ve told a lot of clients that anger is the energy of boundaries. Even though many of us, especially women, have been socialized seeing healthy anger as “bad” or “something to get rid of,” it’s also a signal that we’ve been putting up with something for too long, or saying yes when we really mean no.

Self-respect doesn’t mean acting on every angry feeling, it means being willing to hear what the anger is trying to say.

Sometimes, anger is what finally gets us to stop abandoning ourselves.

Like isn’t that

This past weekend I had the INCREDIBLE experience of seeing the world’s first ever immersive musical in New York City called “Masquerade,” which just so happened to be of one of my favourite musicals, The Phantom of the Opera!!! What an EXPERIENCE!!! Some fun facts about the show:
đŸ–€ All participants were required to wear black, white, or silver. And if you didn’t meet the criteria, the event coordinators said they’d give you a cloak (aka the cloak of shame, as I’m now calling it 😂)
đŸ—ïž We had to give a password rather than an actual ticket
đŸ“± Absolutely NO PHONES were allowed during the show, which I absolutely loved so we could all be fully immersed in the experience (the photos here are pulled from the show’s website!)
🎭 We all had to wear masks during the show, as you can see from one of my photos

To say that this was the COOLEST experience ever is an understatement. Truly, the amount of work, coordination, rehearsing, and creativity that had to go into an event like this is UNREAL! No wonder it has been renewed six times!

Other highlights in NYC included going to the Krewe flagship store (which makes THE. BEST. sunglasses), eating delicious food, and making amazing new memories.

What WAS NOT as fun at the time (but honestly has made for an amazing story and truly unbeatable experience) was having our flight to NYC delayed, delayed, delayed, then cancelled, meaning we unexpectedly had to drive 8+ hours to get there. Along the way, we also almost got mugged/scammed at a gas station and saw a car on fire, so there was truly NEVER a dull moment!

If you’re into musicals, I CANNOT recommend “Masquerade” enough. Seriously, I don’t know how I’m supposed to see a normal musical now without comparing?!?!

What musical would you want to see an immersive version of?

We tend to picture depression as sadness and tears. But for a lot of people, it shows up as irritability: feeling like your skin is too tight, dreading small talk, wanting to scream over minor things. Research backs this up — one study found 40% of adults being treated for depression reported being irritable more than half the time.
If your patience has been gone for weeks and it doesn’t feel like you anymore, it’s worth asking what’s really going on underneath. New post is up on the blog: fresh-insight.ca/blog âžĄïž
