This past weekend I had the INCREDIBLE experience of seeing the worldâs first ever immersive musical in New York City called âMasquerade,â which just so happened to be of one of my favourite musicals, The Phantom of the Opera!!! What an EXPERIENCE!!! Some fun facts about the show:
đ€ All participants were required to wear black, white, or silver. And if you didnât meet the criteria, the event coordinators said theyâd give you a cloak (aka the cloak of shame, as Iâm now calling it đ)
đïž We had to give a password rather than an actual ticket
đ± Absolutely NO PHONES were allowed during the show, which I absolutely loved so we could all be fully immersed in the experience (the photos here are pulled from the showâs website!)
đ We all had to wear masks during the show, as you can see from one of my photos
To say that this was the COOLEST experience ever is an understatement. Truly, the amount of work, coordination, rehearsing, and creativity that had to go into an event like this is UNREAL! No wonder it has been renewed six times!
Other highlights in NYC included going to the Krewe flagship store (which makes THE. BEST. sunglasses), eating delicious food, and making amazing new memories.
What WAS NOT as fun at the time (but honestly has made for an amazing story and truly unbeatable experience) was having our flight to NYC delayed, delayed, delayed, then cancelled, meaning we unexpectedly had to drive 8+ hours to get there. Along the way, we also almost got mugged/scammed at a gas station and saw a car on fire, so there was truly NEVER a dull moment!
If youâre into musicals, I CANNOT recommend âMasqueradeâ enough. Seriously, I donât know how Iâm supposed to see a normal musical now without comparing?!?!
What musical would you want to see an immersive version of?
