Our emotions aren’t our enemies—they’re signals, lessons, and reminders of what matters most to us. Ignoring them doesn’t make them disappear; it often makes them louder. Learning to acknowledge our feelings, understand them, and grow from them is a powerful part of emotional intelligence. Feel it, learn from it, and heal through it. 💙
Feel it to heal it!
I like Dan Siegel's phrase, "Name it to tame it," but it implies emotions are something problematic that we need to "tame." Maybe "Feel it to heal it" also implies a negativity bias? Anyway: The Big Deal for me has been learning that feelings are valuable.
All of them.
My friend used to say, "Emotions are like emails from you to you. Are you going to open it?" Messages from us, for us... about what we care about!
Another big aha! for me: We have multiple feelings because that helps us see multiple perspectives. So each "email" is inviting us to consider a different view of the situation.
That doesn't mean OBEY every feeling. That would not be intelligent. But it also isn't intelligent to have them all locked up or stuffed down so deep we can't access them.
