Happy Canadian Thanksgiving Day!

Living on a pioneer homestead, built with the love, vision, drive and incredible hard work of Canada's pioneer settlers, makes me feel proud to be Canadian every day.

I am filled gratitude, inspiration and hope for the future as I create a forever home sanctuary and healing center, continuing the work of the pioneers in each generation ... honouring this sacred, crystal land of The Canadian Shield.

Now, new friends join us at our sanctuary farm, both 2 legged and 4 legged!
I imagine the pioneers who first created this homestead in the 1800s must be smiling down from Heaven, knowing their love, vision and drive continues today as I create a larger legacy of love, safety and security for future generations of humans, horses and animals.

I give thanks for all the good and wonderful things in my life, and for the new friendships that this land and homestead is creating.

Ontario is proposing a historic, province-wide ban on horse slaughter & the handling of horse meat in provincially-licensed slaughterhouses 🐴

Public concern for horse welfare was cited by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food & Agribusiness as the driving force behind this proposal—proving that together, our voices are making a difference!

Systemic cruelty within this industry has gone on for far too long, & we applaud Ontario for taking a stand. By going a step further & banning the sale & transport of horses for slaughter, Ontario could protect even more vulnerable horses from suffering.

Breaking News: Inspiring Progress for Horses in Slaughter Pipeline!

The province of Ontario has stepped up to the plate.

We have received word that the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness (OMAFA) in Ontario is proposing a ban on the slaughter of horses at 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙨 as well as any handling of equine meat products at those plants. This would include horse meat imported or received from federally licensed slaughterhouses.

We celebrate this incredible step forward for horses! It means that the government of Ontario has recognized and responded to the fact that horses in the slaughter pipeline are not treated according to acceptable animal welfare standards.

OMAFA states: "... recent public attention to equine welfare has prompted the government to consider regulatory changes".

We applaud this inspiring and progressive action on the part of OMAFA.
