Happy Beach Day!
First of all... around here, lakes absolutely count.
Rivers count. Creeks count. And if you ask my wife and step daughter... puddles definitely count. They’ll jump in one whenever the opportunity presents itself. 😄
Water was a huge part of my childhood summers. We spent a lot of time camping, swimming, and exploring.
One of the biggest adventures was driving all the way to Prince Edward Island in our trusty (ish) “Wally Wagon.” My dad grew up in Holland, and he wanted us to experience the ocean.
After what felt like forever, we finally arrived at Cavendish.
The water?
Freezing.
The wind?
Also freezing.
And floating in the surf...
..was something dead.
Needless to say, my brother and I politely declined our first Atlantic Ocean swim.
A few years later, I watched Jaws.
Let’s just say that didn’t improve my confidence in large bodies of water. 😅
Even so, I still find myself drawn to water.
There’s something about sitting on a dock, listening to the waves on a lake, watching the light dance across the surface, or simply dipping your toes in that reminds me summer isn’t measured by where you go—it’s measured by the moments that make you smile.
Whether your “beach” is the ocean, a quiet lake, your favourite river, or yes... even a puddle...
I hope you find a little water to enjoy before summer says goodbye.
