Fall is a good time for a health check-in!

As we head into a new season, it’s a good time to check in on your health and make sure you’re prepared for the months ahead.

A few things worth thinking about:

Are your vaccinations up to date?

If you have a chronic health condition or are at higher risk of complications from respiratory infections, do you have a plan for staying well this fall and winter?

Simple steps like washing your hands, staying home when you’re feeling unwell, and improving ventilation can help reduce the spread of respiratory illnesses.
If there’s a health concern you’ve been putting off, fall can be a good time to connect with your health-care provider.

The Hospice Hub is pleased to announce our next round of Practical Caregiver Training, an educational program developed using the evidence‑informed Champlain Hospice Palliative Care model. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting families and enhancing the quality of care provided to individuals at end of life.

Practical Caregiver Training offers structured, hands‑on instruction designed to equip caregivers with essential skills for providing safe, compassionate, and effective care at home. Participants will receive guidance in areas such as personal care techniques, safe mobility assistance, comfort measures, and recognizing changes in a person’s condition. The program emphasizes clarity, confidence‑building, and practical application, ensuring caregivers feel prepared for the responsibilities they face.

This program provides significant benefits to caregivers, including increased confidence in performing daily care tasks, reduced stress through improved understanding of what to expect, and strengthened communication with hospice professionals. By empowering caregivers with knowledge and practical skills, the program enhances both caregiver well‑being and the comfort and dignity of the person receiving care.

The Hospice Hub is proud to offer this valuable resource to our community and remains dedicated to supporting caregivers through every stage of the hospice journey.
