The CMHA HKPR Emotional Support Dragons made a splash at Peterborough’s Dragon Boat Festival for its 25th anniversary!

Our team paddled hard, raising nearly $4,000 and snagging 3rd in their heat with a 1:32:83 finish.

An incredible first year! πŸ₯‰πŸ‰

What a day. What a community. What a ride. πŸš΄πŸ’™

The 2026 Change the Cycle campaign has officially come to a close, and we are still taking it all in.

This year, a record breaking 92 riders came together to support mental health programs and services in our community.

Through your generosity, fundraising efforts, sponsorships, and donations, together we raised an incredible $31,620.64 for the Canadian Mental Health Association Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge.

To every rider who registered, every donor who gave, every volunteer who donated their time, and every family member and friend who cheered participants on, thank you. You helped make this our biggest and most successful year yet.

A special thank you to our incredible sponsors who helped make this event possible:

πŸ’Ž Diamond Sponsors
CIBC Private Wealth, Pyle Wealth Advisory, and Merrett Home Hardware Building Centre

πŸ₯‡ Gold Sponsors
AON Inc., RBC Wealth Management Dominion Securities, and Sysco

πŸ₯ˆ Silver Sponsor
Darling Insurance

πŸ‘ Event Sponsors
Peterborough Mitsubishi, Co operators, Ricart Branded Apparel & Promotions, and Unity

We would also like to thank our presenting partners and media supporters, including Tom's Heating & Cooling, The Wolf 101.5, Global Peterborough, and Fresh Radio 100.5, for helping us spread the word and grow this event year after year.

A very special thank you also goes out to SOUP for allowing us to use their song, "Let's Go for a Ride," as the official soundtrack of Change the Cycle. The song perfectly captured the spirit of the day and became the anthem that carried riders, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters through another unforgettable event.

What started as a cycling event has become something much bigger. It has become a community movement that brings people together, starts important conversations, and supports mental health right here at home.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for every kilometre ridden, every dollar raised, and every act of support along the way.

Until next year, let's keep changing the cycle. πŸ’™

When people think about mental health support, they often picture counselling or crisis services.

But healing and recovery can also happen through connection.

Through a yoga class. A game of bowling. An art project. A pickleball match. A chance to get out of the house and spend time with people who genuinely understand what you're going through.

CMHA HKPR's Recreational Groups provide exactly that. These programs create safe, welcoming spaces where people can build friendships, improve their well being, and strengthen their mental health while having fun.

What many people don't realize is that programs like these come with costs. Facility rentals, instructors, transportation, equipment, and participant supports all help make these groups accessible to those who need them most.

That's where Change the Cycle comes in.

The funds raised through Change the Cycle help ensure these recreational programs continue to be available across Peterborough, Northumberland, and the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Because mental health support isn't always about treatment.

Sometimes it's about belonging.

We are just days away from Change the Cycle 2026.

Over the past several weeks, you've heard from our incredible Agents of Change, sponsors, community leaders, mental health advocates, and supporters. Different voices. Different stories. One shared goal.

To create a su***de safe community and ensure life saving mental health programs continue to be available right here at home.

One thing many people don't realize is that the Assertive Outreach Su***de Prevention Program is not funded by the Ministry of Health. It exists because people in our community step up and say, "This matters."

Every registration. Every donation. Every share. Every conversation.

It all helps.

If you've been thinking about signing up, now is the time. If you can't ride, please consider making a donation. If you've already registered, help us spread the word one last time.

Sometimes the smallest things can make the biggest difference.

A quiet room. A supportive group. A chance to breathe.

For many participants, CMHA's yoga program at is much more than a weekly class. It is a place to find calm, connection, and relief from the challenges they carry every day.

who leads the Tuesday morning classes, describes it as a community where people can move at their own pace, focus on breath work, and simply be present.

One participant shared that they have been connected with CMHA since 2015 and have attended the yoga classes for the past several years. Living with both mental health challenges and chronic pain, they say the gentle, beginner friendly classes help ease their pain, lift their spirits, and leave them feeling calm and relaxed. In fact, they call it the highlight of their week.

That is the power of accessible mental health programming.

It is not always about major breakthroughs. Sometimes it is about creating a space where someone feels supported. Where they can move, heal, connect, and leave feeling a little stronger than when they arrived.

Programs like this exist because of community support.

When you participate in Change the Cycle, make a donation, or share the message, you help ensure these programs remain available to the people who rely on them.

Because everyone deserves a place where they can find a little peace, a little hope, and a community that cares.

That is what Change the Cycle is all about. Community taking care of community.

Many men are taught to push through, stay quiet, or deal with things on their own, even when they’re struggling. But connection can save lives.

This Men’s Mental Health Month, we’re sharing practical ways to check in on the men in your life and help create spaces where they feel safe to open up. Because no one should have to struggle alone. πŸ’š
