We were saddened to hear of the passing of one of our long-time volunteer drivers, Josie Robinson, who faithfully served the Treherne area for many years.

Through her kindness, compassion, and dedication, she helped countless individuals get to their cancer-related appointments, making a difference in the lives of so many along the way.

On behalf of everyone at Central Plains Cancer Services, we extend our sincere condolences to her family and friends. We are grateful for her years of service and the care she so generously gave to others.

It's always lovely to start a Monday with an email like this:

"Hi Jodi,
Wanted to acknowledge the two drivers we've booked with to date - Tom Helliwell and Glen Ducharme... they're fantastic!"

Thank you Tom & Glen for doing an exceptional job! And thanks to the many other volunteer drivers who have been up and down the highway. The past month has been exceptionally busy and we always come through with a driver for those in need.

Happy Monday!

After nine incredible years with Central Plains Cancer Services, our Educator, Karen Faurschou, is retiring.

For almost a decade, Karen has dedicated herself to educating community members and students about cancer prevention, healthy living, and the importance of taking charge of your health. Through school presentations, community sessions, health fairs, and countless conversations, Karen has touched so many lives across our region with her compassion, knowledge, and genuine care for others.

We wanted so badly to host a farewell celebration for Karen, but she made it very clear that she wouldn’t come because she simply wanted to quietly step away from her role without any attention or fuss. While we respect her wishes, we also couldn’t let her leave without letting her know just how much she has meant to all of us.

So instead, we are asking our community to help us celebrate her here. Please feel free to leave a memory of Karen, a message of thanks, or well wishes for her retirement in the comments below. We would love to share your words with her so she truly knows how valued and appreciated she has been over the years.

Karen, thank you for everything you have given to CPCS and to the communities we serve. Your impact will continue to be felt for years to come. Wishing you nothing but happiness, health, and new adventures in this next chapter.

*On a side note, although Karen is retiring from her Educator role, she won’t completely be leaving CPCS, she’s joining our amazing team of Independent Facilitators that help us with the delivery of clinics and community outreach initiatives across the region.*

We would like to send out a grateful thank you to the crew at Jack Cavers Place who hosted their own "Table for 600" event on Friday night in support of Central Plains Cancer Services. Collectively they raised over $1200! We are so grateful to Vicki Hooke and her crew for making this happen.
