Apart from community living, child care is another of DDA's pillars of support. 👶👧🧒

After increasing spending in child care and for kids with disabilities, the provincial government wants to hear from parents, educators, and service providers.

Have your say on the future of child care in BC.

🌈 June is Pride Month 🌈

You don't get to be half-visible. If you're q***r and living with a disability, your whole self deserves to be seen, celebrated, and supported.

In June, we celebrate 2SLGBTQIA+ people with developmental disabilities, while also acknowledging the intersections they exist in.

The layered realities of ableism, homophobia, transphobia, racism, and other barriers that many people face at the same time are struggles only they understand.

At DDA, we remain committed to a future where everyone - across ability, gender identity, and sexual orientation has the right to be seen, heard, and included. Nothing less.

This is Elliot.

He’s been an important part of our PSA outreach campaign, and reflects what What We’re Like is all about—seeing people for our shared humanity, not our differences.

Elliot likes to look sharp, and he does it well.

On May 20th, DDA Family Supports and Jobs West had the pleasure of attending the Richmond Transition Fair at MacNeill Secondary School.

This event was a wonderful opportunity to connect with families, meet potential clients, and engage with our valuable community partners. We’re grateful to be part of such a supportive and collaborative network, helping individuals and families navigate their transition journeys.

Thanks for including DDA and to everyone who made this event a success! ☺️

Thursday, May 21st, marked Global Accessibility Awareness Day — a global reminder that accessibility is essential, not optional.

At DDA, we continue to hold this message at the centre of our work: inclusion means removing barriers so everyone can fully participate in the community.

Accessibility isn’t something we think about once a year. It’s an everyday commitment.

Thursday, May 15, 2025, help us celebrate the 14th Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD)! The purpose of GAAD is to get everyone talking, thinking and learning about digital access and inclusion, and the more than One Billion people with disabilities/impairments.

Summer time, summer time, sum sum summertime! 🌞🎼🎼

The dog days of summer are just ahead, and that might mean getting the kids out of the house and into a summer camp!

Here are a few options in BC for families with special needs. Please check with camps directly about accessibility and individual needs.

Summer is here, and school is all but done. Time to send the kids to camp for a little R and R. We provide some options for parents of kids with disabilities.

Kids expressing themselves is vital for their development.👧🧒🎨

Celebrating Child Care Month and supported by the City of Richmond - Local Government's Child Care Advisory Committee, Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives, the Richmond Public Library, and Child Care Options, the Children's Art Exhibition is on now at the Brighouse Library.

Kids from our Riverside Child Development Centre are taking part, and we are super proud of them!

The exhibition runs to the end of May.

Over the past several weeks, this message has travelled farther than we imagined.

Our PSA on people with developmental disabilities and shared humanity has generated tens of thousands of online views and millions of impressions through CTV advertising, with shares from organizations and supporters across Canada and beyond.

At its heart is a simple truth: we’re more alike than different.

Thank you to everyone for helping keep this conversation moving.

Watch it again, here.
