Crowning Glory came to fruition because of my love of pregnancy, birthing time and postpartum phase. Because I sadly cannot populate the world

with my own children, I have decided to help women, and families through the immense changes that happen when welcoming a baby. A huge change in my thinking came after the birth of my last baby where I (finally) fully accepted help from others. I was able to nurse my newborn undisturbed many times because someone was there to pick up my kids, my mess and my spirit. I am interested natural health, fitness, nutrition, breastfeeding and mental health of new and expectant moms. I love a good coffee, red wine and a great belly laugh. Enjoy my page!

It’s so much more than evidence. It’s intuitive, building the village now, it’s about intimacy and relationships, it’s about what is common to experience postpartum, it’s about the book ends of life, it’s about feeling it all, it’s about communication and expressing our wants. It’s about laughter and being light hearted, it’s about loving our babies and grieving who we were before kids, it’s about voicing our needs.

The skills we learn in these classes can be used for a life time, it’s not just about getting a baby out of a body.

The average couple spends $30,000+ on a wedding.

The average couple then spends a large chunk on strollers and baby gadgets but forgot one very integral piece to the puzzle: education! Prenatal class series, IBCLC visit, pelvic floor physiotherapy, registered counselling, doula support, etc.

We wonder why so many people are terrified of labour and I can see the pathway where so many families are in the dark with no education saying after, “why did no one tell me this?”

It is up to us as expecting parents to seek out the professionals in the topic we want to learn about 🫶🏼 Why has Fraser Health’s c-section rate has climbed to 46.3% (2023/24 perinatal health report) Why are so many mothers isolated? Why are so many people feeling traumatized by their births? Just food for thought.

Birth and postpartum are something you can prepare for, understand, and actually feel ready for!! It’ll be so powerful for you.

There are people sitting in childbirth education classes right now learning about how to be a good patient and smile and nod. They’re learning what’s going to happen TO them and not how to create great communication, teamwork, and advocacy. Partners completely unaware of how integral they are to the process.

My Powerful Birth was created to generate something different.

More curiosity.
More possibility and choice.
More conversations.
A better understanding of their providers limitations and how to enroll their birth partner into being the best support ever
More awareness of what is available.
More connection to intuition, values, communication, advocacy, and choice.
Way more confidence and heck ya moments!

The “husband stitch” is an example of how women’s comfort, healing, and consent were placed behind male pleasure in perinatal care back in the day.

For years, extra stitching after birth trauma was joked about, normalized, or done without much conversation about the long-term impact on pain, healing, intimacy, and recovery. Thank gosh that’s over. But it’s also an example of how sometimes policy or provider bias can influence care. And sometimes that care isn’t evidence based. Did you know on average it takes 16 years for the current evidence to become fully integrated into hospital policy?

These conversations are part of why informed consent, advocacy, and respectful postpartum care matter so much today. Joking or not, the matriarchy is not to be f**ked with 🙂‍↔️
