Breathe New Brunswick

Breathe New Brunswick Meet yourself more deeply through your body and breath. Facilitated group sessions for exploration, insight, healing & reset.

Group Journeys, Individual Sessions, Circles, Retreats, Corporate & Community. Breath is one of our most powerful tools to support us every day. Conscious Connected Breathwork is a specific practice that involves a vibrant breath to move beyond the busyness of the mind and into a place of presence. It is a powerful technique that allows individuals to tap into their emotional body and release any

built-up emotional charge that may be stored in their nervous system. This can lead to a deep sense of healing or release, increased awareness, personal insight, and a more profound connection with one’s deepest self. In our journeys, we will use a variety of contemplative practices, sharing, movement, sound, and breath to support our journey and integration. This is a powerful practice and not recommended if you are pregnant, have heart conditions, glaucoma, epilepsy, or are undergoing treatment for significant physical or mental concerns.

It is surprising how many things will take you back. A song, a new season of a show you watched, contemplating and activity you enjoyed doing or just the feeling of the air and light is enough to take you back. Grief is like glitter - it takes a long time to go away and shows up in unexpected places.

When it brings us back and we can take a moment to feel the loss rise and put a hand on our chest breathe it in, feel it (cry or be angry if we need to) and then offer gratitude before coming back to this present moment in your body.

I’m going to be talking about grief more.

Grief is a natural part of life, yet so many of us have learned to try and avoid it, rush it, hide it, or move through it quietly.

Our broader culture influences our family culture, and both shape how we learn to relate to grief, what we’re allowed to feel, how long we’re allowed to feel it, and whether we’re expected to carry it alone.

And yes, capitalism and patriarchy are part of our disconnection from grief but that’s not where I’m focusing right now.

I want to talk more about grief as part of being human. The many forms it takes. The ways it lives in us.

Soulmates are the people who arrive in our lives to help us grow, awaken parts of ourselves, and gently (or sometimes not so gently) invite us into becoming who we’re meant to be.

Growth rarely happens without discomfort. It asks us to let go, to soften, to expand beyond what we’ve known.
Soulmates are not always the people who stay forever, but the souls who leave us different than they found us.

One of my favourite Ram Dass quotes says it beautifully:

“We’re all just walking each other home.”

Ooff a lot has been arising!

If you could take what has been arising for you and give it a theme what might that be? How familiar is it? How have you experienced it in the past? How do you feel about it? What have you learned about it and yourself?

It’s hard, we often judge ourselves for entering into a familiar pattern, or state, when it really is an opportunity to meet it in a new way.

Every time I enter these places they feel like they are gonna last forever, but I know deeply and clearly it will change - so then how can I meet and care for myself while I’m here? What do I need and how can I give it to myself or reach out for it? - And not from the running story that ‘I don’t matter, no one cares, Im undeserving’ kinda voice, but from the wise inner part we all have.

The other side is like the rising from the ashes and we do it again and again.

What a great offering for men to explore.

What a great offering for men to explore.

Men... have you noticed the gap?

The space between who you show the world and what’s quietly living underneath. Most of us work hard to manage that gap—to keep it functional, to keep it from interfering with what needs to get done.

The management works. And it comes with a cost.

This breathwork series is a container for what the management has been holding. Not to fix it or replace it with better strategies, but to sit in it with other men who are also figuring it out—to breathe, to be uncertain together, to grieve, to laugh, and to accompany what life keeps asking of us.

Over six weeks, we will explore territories that shape men’s lives but are rarely examined honestly:

    •    The cultural inheritance living in your body
    •    The socialization that disconnected you from yourself
    •    The identity questions haunting a constructed life
    •    The wound of being expected to know what nobody taught

We will meet in humble-as-possible ways... group conversations, partner work, and conscious connected breathwork—a practice that accesses the stories life carved in your body in ways talking alone cannot.

All of it happens in a container of other men. This matters more than most expect; statistically, men are notorious for attempting to navigate their inner landscape on their own.

Some of the discomfort you have been encountering is simply growing pains: outgrowing where you came from and who you were because of it, growing into the life ahead as your learn, shed, and open into what’s possible.

🌷Spring Equinox Somatic Breathwork🌷
🌻March 20th, 2026 ~ 7pm - 9:30pm🌻
with Alex Tabler

The Spring Equinox is a moment of balance when day and night meet, and the Earth begins to turn toward light again. We can feel the earth coming alive and the sun awakening inside us.

The Spring Equinox is a moment of balance when day and night meet the earth begins turning toward light again. We can feel the earth coming alive and the sun awakening inside us.

This workshop is an invitation to reconnect to balance as we step forward with ourselves, with each other, and with the rhythm of the season.

Together, we’ll explore movement to loosen and awaken the body, reflective dyad practice, and a short guided breath journey with visualization.

We’ll work with the elements as a guide:
Earth - connecting with the body
Air - the breath
Fire - intuition and inner guidance
Water - a simple ritual of release and renewal.

This will be a grounding and supportive space to reflect, move, breathe, and step into the new season with greater clarity and connection.

Everyone is welcome, no experience necessary.

Breathing is not only a respiratory function but also a fundamental biomechanical process that supports spinal stability and postural control. The diaphragm, abdominal wall, pelvic floor, and deep spinal stabilizers work together to create a pressure-regulating system that stabilizes the trunk. The illustration highlights how diaphragmatic breathing distributes pressure evenly throughout the abdominal cavity, forming a supportive internal cylinder.

During proper inhalation, the diaphragm contracts and descends, increasing intra-abdominal pressure. Instead of the abdomen pushing forward only, pressure expands in all directions — anteriorly, laterally, and posteriorly — creating 360-degree expansion. The pelvic floor responds by lengthening slightly, while the transverse abdominis and oblique muscles regulate the expansion. This balanced pressure supports the lumbar spine and reduces excessive reliance on passive structures like ligaments and discs.

From a biomechanical standpoint, intra-abdominal pressure functions like an internal brace for the spine. When pressure is evenly distributed, it enhances trunk stiffness and stability without excessive muscular tension. This mechanism is crucial during lifting, walking, and athletic movements, as it improves force transfer between the upper and lower body while minimizing spinal strain.

The side-view illustration shows how pressure interacts with spinal alignment. With efficient diaphragmatic breathing, pressure supports the lumbar curve and maintains trunk integrity. In contrast, shallow chest breathing elevates the rib cage, limits diaphragm descent, and shifts stabilization demand to the neck, shoulders, and lower back. Over time, this inefficient pattern may contribute to neck tension, lumbar pain, and reduced core stability.

Poor pressure management can also overload the pelvic floor. If pressure is directed downward without coordinated muscular support, it may contribute to pelvic floor dysfunction. Conversely, excessive abdominal gripping without diaphragm coordination can increase spinal compression and restrict breathing efficiency.

Restoring optimal breathing mechanics involves retraining diaphragmatic function, improving rib cage mobility, and strengthening deep core musculature. When the diaphragm, abdominal wall, and pelvic floor coordinate effectively, the body gains a stable foundation for posture, movement, and injury prevention.

Efficient breathing creates a stable yet adaptable trunk, enhances movement efficiency, and supports long-term spinal health — demonstrating that proper respiration is essential not only for oxygen exchange but also for biomechanical integrity.
