UNITI hosted World Connections Day at our South Campus, bringing our community together for an evening of culture, connection, and celebration. Through games, performances, food, and friendship, we celebrated the diversity that enriches our community every day.

This event was made possible through the support of a City of Surrey Cultural Grant.

A sincere thank you to all of our performers, Ricardo and Priya Ram for their outstanding stage presence. Aminah for keeping the energy alive as our DJ, Asma for her incredible enthusiasm and contributions, and the Community Development team members who worked behind the scenes to make the event a success.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating culture, community, and belonging. ❤️🌍

Everyone deserves the opportunity to build the skills and confidence to live independently.

This week, we hosted a workshop focused on independent living for people with disabilities, covering practical life skills, decision-making, and building confidence for everyday living.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped create a space for learning, connection, and empowerment.

Huge shout out to this team of humans for ALWAYS making sure we level up!

Meet Tammy,

She stands for growth, strength, and resilience!

Tammy still remembers the moment she opened her offer letter from the Canadian Border Services Agency, reading it twice… then a third time.

Excitement came first, followed closely by one big question: Can I really do this?

She decided to find out.

Starting a new job meant learning unfamiliar systems, adjusting to a fast-paced workplace, and building confidence step by step. The first weeks were challenging, but Tammy showed up every day with determination and a willingness to keep trying.

With the support of her WISE Employment Specialist, Tammy found strategies that worked for her. Breaking tasks into smaller steps, using checklists, and focusing on accuracy over speed was a game changer.

Slowly, things began to click. Her confidence grew, her skills strengthened, and she began taking on new responsibilities.

Then life brought an unexpected loss, and Tammy faced one of the hardest moments imaginable. With support from her workplace and her WISE employment team, she took the time she needed, and returned stronger!

Today, Tammy arrives at work with purpose. Her journey is a powerful reminder that success doesn’t happen overnight, it’s built through perseverance, support, and the courage to keep going.

Tammy’s story is one of growth, resilience, and quiet strength and we’re proud to share it.

Keep it up, Tammy! We are proud of you.

At UNITI, learning isn’t occasional it’s part of who we are.

Last week, our entire organization came together for training focused on core competencies and person-centered practices.

From the IT department and administration to support workers and leadership, every department participated. This is because delivering exceptional service takes a united, well-trained team.

This is what sets UNITI apart:

We don’t settle for “good enough.”

We invest in continuous learning and the results are immediate. Training and professional development happens at UNITI every few months, ensuring our team stays aligned, informed, and ready to meet the evolving needs of the people we support.

What have you learned through workplace professional development/training?
