Seeing the pregnant mother with the roots reminds me of how interconnected women are to everything around them, especially their babies.

Interesting oral health fact: harmful bacteria that causes harmful inflammation (gum disease) in the mother’s mouth and body can have a negative effect on the health of her baby (preterm birth and low birth weight)
Self care for the mother is nurturing for the baby.

Your lead table bargaining committee has reached a tentative agreement. At this point, all picket lines will stand down, and members will return to work as early as Monday morning. If the tentative agreement is not ratified, the strike will resume. See the full update below:

Proud to say that 2 years ago I took a risk on a dream to make dental hygiene services accessible to people who face barriers to accessing oral health care and it has been the most rewarding as well as challenging experience in my career.
None of this would have been possible without the immense support from my community, family and friends. So, from the bottom of my heart I thank all of you. 🙏

Did you know that the CCA’s are the people responsible for brushing the Residents teeth in long term care.
My question is: who is doing this for the residents during the strike that has been going on for nearly 3 weeks?
Most seniors in nursing homes are there because they are considered vulnerable. They need extra care and if they don’t get the care they need there I suspect this will sadly impact quality of life and decline in health.
I have been asked to wait until the strike is over to go back to seeing people for oral health care so I know my clients are not getting the oral health care they need during this time from me.
I support care works during this strike as I see how drastically they have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of people in long term care. CUPE Nova Scotia Long Term and Community Care Committee
