📢 Canada needs solutions that work for everyone.

At Community Living Toronto, we’re committed to advancing practical solutions that create more opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live with , and a sense of .

Our new paper, Power of Place: Living Spaces, Thriving Lives, proposes modernizing Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) mortgage policy to make it easier for non-profit housing providers to participate in condominium developments and create Inclusive Vertical Communities.

We believe this is an opportunity to rethink what housing policy can make possible, and we’re inviting governments, housing leaders, community partners, families and people with lived experience to explore what a more inclusive future for housing could look like.

🎙️ Season 4 Episode 7 is LIVE!

In this episode of Community Chats, Sam Forbes and Sam McKhail, CLTO Influencers, join Brad Saunders, CEO of Community Living Toronto, for a conversation about advocacy, community and what belonging means to them.

From programs that helped Sam Forbes build confidence and social skills, to Sam McKhail finding a sense of connection through his cultural heritage and community, they share some of the experiences that have shaped their lives. They also talk about their work as CLTO Influencers, the importance of having opportunities to share lived experiences, and how simple acts of kindness can help create spaces where people feel respected, supported, and comfortable being themselves.

The conversation reminds us that belonging can start with something as simple as a smile, being seen and knowing that your experiences matter.

One thing that always makes August memorable is a Day at Duncan’s Farm! ☀️

On August 17, 2026, 110 guests gathered at Duncan’s Farm to enjoy the sunshine and spend time outdoors. From pool games and dancing to music and plenty of opportunities to simply enjoy each other’s company, there was something for everyone to take part in.

🖍️ We even got creative with crayons, turning the ground into one shared canvas filled with colourful drawings. Each one was unique and special, but together they created something even more meaningful, a beautiful reflection of the sense of connection, belonging and community that brings us all together. ✨

And of course, no gathering would be complete without some great food! 🍽️ Thank you to our CLTO staff for serving up a delicious meal that everyone could enjoy, and a special shoutout to Seventh Heaven Event Catering for helping make the meal extra special. 🙌

And, as always, we saved room for the perfect way to wrap up the day... ice cream! 🍦

We are incredibly grateful to Duncan Jackman, a member of Community Living Toronto’s Patron’s Council, and Nelly Joaquim for making this special gathering possible year after year. It was a day filled with connection, creativity, fun, memorable moments, and a wonderful reminder of the joy that comes from bringing our community together. 💙💚
