“See you later with my new heart.”

Those were the words Craig Watson shared with coworkers before heading into the surgery that would save his life.

This Father’s Day, Craig is doing something simple: spending time with family. It’s a celebration he knows he very nearly missed.

His story is a powerful reminder that some of life’s greatest gifts aren’t things at all—they’re moments, memories and the people we share them with.

BC Transplant has been proud to participate in Pride events across the province, and we are grateful for the opportunity to raise awareness within the LGBTQIA+ community.

Everyone can be an organ donor. A person’s sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or gender expression does not prevent them from becoming an organ donor. We are committed to sharing this important message with communities across the province.

Thank you to all BC Transplant staff and volunteers who have supported us at these events. This year, BC Transplant was represented at the Kamloops Pride Parade and hosted information booths at BC Children’s Hospital and BC Cancer.
There are more events and opportunities to come, so stay tuned for additional photos, updates, and more engagement!

Last week BC Transplant held an Education Day on Monday May 25th at St. Paul’s Hospital. We were excited to see many healthcare professionals gather to learn about educational findings and research about organ donation and transplantation.

We had a full day filled with presentations and speeches from doctors, nurses and others in our transplant community. We also heard beautiful speeches from a living donor, a donor family and a heart recipient.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, your passion and dedication to organ donation and transplant is truly admirable. This second chance at life is also largely possible due to beautiful humans like yourself.

The recordings and other information can be found on our website: transplant.bc.ca/education

Our In-Hospital Coordinator Bobbi was at Abbotsford Regional Hospital on May 13 to raise awareness for organ donation and transplant at the education fair.

She created a fun Jeopardy game and inspired many healthcare staff to learn more in an uplifting and engaged manner. She was touched by the connections she was able to make and the interest to learn more.

Thank you so much Bobbi for your creativity, passion and care to raise awareness, we admire you and your efforts!
