Did you know naturopathic doctors can participate in Canada's national nature prescription program?

PaRx is an evidence-informed initiative that encourages healthcare providers to prescribe time in nature as part of supporting overall health and well-being. Research has shown that spending time outdoors can have positive impacts on both physical and mental health, and PaRx provides healthcare professionals with tools and resources to help integrate nature into patient care conversations.

Today, June 21st, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, we recognize and celebrate the rich cultures, histories, languages, knowledge systems, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada.

It is also an opportunity to reflect on the role each of us can play in advancing reconciliation. In healthcare, that means listening, learning, building relationships, and continuing to work toward care that is respectful, culturally safe, trauma-informed, and accessible to all.

We encourage everyone to take time today to learn, participate in local events, and celebrate the strength, resilience, and leadership of Indigenous communities.

Who does what?

One question we hear regularly is the difference between the roles of BCND, CAND, and CCHPBC. While each organization plays an important role in supporting the profession, their responsibilities are distinct.

BCND has developed a simple infographic to help clarify who is responsible for advocacy, regulation, professional support, public protection, national initiatives, and more.

Understanding the different roles helps members know where to go for information, support, and answers.

Trust is at the heart of healthcare.

For many people, positive health outcomes begin with feeling safe, respected, and able to have open conversations with their healthcare provider. Naturopathic doctors strive to build therapeutic relationships grounded in listening, collaboration, and individualized care.
