A strange but powerful reminder. With the best intentions, we often do for our partner's what we would want if we were going through what they were going through. This deserves appreciation but it's important to understand our partner's needs and try to be there for them in a way that makes them feel loved and secure.

By definition, you have to be vulnerable to go after what you want, and you have a system/ subconscious that is working against you because all it cares about is keeping you safe... not your long-term happiness or your long-term relationship satisfaction. This part of you needs to be acknowledged and appreciated, but you cannot let it control your life.
