🌿 Let's play Re-Name the lake...again!! Proposing name changes to bodies of water is the new diversion from all the problems in the world right now. But if renaming the lake after a 15th century Italian explorer (Amerigo Vespucci) isn't doing it for you, 🙄 here's another option.
🌿
The name Ontario is derived from the Wendat (Huron) word Ontarí'io, which is often translated as "great lake". In Colonial times, Lake Onzario was also called Cataraqui, a French spelling of the Mohawk Katarokwi. The name Ontarí'io is most often translated from Wyandot as "beautiful lake", and other translations exist.
🌿
Different Indigenous nations used specific terms and spellings in their languages:
🌿
Wendat (Huron): Ontarí'io ("great lake" or "great water").
🌿
Haudenosaunee (Iroquois): Kanadario ("sparkling water" or "beautiful great lake").
🌿
Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe): Niigani-gichigami.
🌿
Mohawk: Katarokwi (anglicized as Cataraqui), which was also used for the area.
🌿
Here is a proposed change to the proposed Lake America name change, using the Haudenosaunee Confederscy name Kanadario.
🌿
The Haudenosaunee Confederacy, also known as the Iroquois, are a confederacy of Iroquoian-speaking indigenous peoples in northeast North America. They were known by the French during the colonial years as the Iroquois League, and later as the Iroquois Confederacy. They have also been called the Six Nations (Five Nations before 1722).
🌿
In 2010, more than 45,000 enrolled Six Nations people lived in Canada, and over 81,000 in the United States. They retain sovereignty over seven reserves in Canada and eleven reservations in the United States, divided between seventeen First Nations and nine Tribal nations.

Good grief!! Update: Just reposting as I confirmed that you have to use your 2 free links on the first day of the month and the top tier is called Meta One Max. 🙅‍♀️Yesterday, I encountered a problem that left me puzzled. I've been operating this page since January of 2010 and I've always been able to add l.inks into the body of a post or in the comments. Now I find that FB will only allow me to post two l.inks per month, if I don't pay a fee! (See notes from my online search in the images below.) This is completely ludicrous!!

Small-scale users like me keep people on this site.

Keep them scrolling.

Keep them engaged.

Even if I'm not paying to have a blue check mark or giving the company more money, it's beneficial for FB to have me creating content on their site. This action is causing many small business owners and people like me to rethink whether they want to keep having a page moving forward. Even though the a.lgorithm sinks my content and my follower number is slowly moving in reverse, I will stubbornly persevere.

And if FB develops a workaround to disable the approach I will describe below, there is only one explanation -- someone from a competing company or a nefarious organization has infiltrated FB and is trying to drive it into the ground.

FB take note.

Whenever I need to put a l.ink to an article that is not from a major news source -- because that's already not allowed in Canada -- I'll invite the reader to go to the feedback section below and you'll see the following message appear there. I will then reply to my own c.omment and will include the l.ink below it.

If you manage a page and you're struggling to know what to do -- because paying $692.86 CDN per month for 22 plus links (which is what I would need) is not an option -- please feel free to copy my wording and redistribute this post to others. If you feel it would be useful:

Press, hold, copy and paste in your browser to read more. Sorry. 😒 FB has restrictions now. See ⬇️.

🌿 Not exactly accurate for all of the decades that have experienced while flying, but it gets closer to accurate as the decades go by. Although, I must protest. In the 2020s you get a drink and a choice of pretzels or a cookie. A small cookie. Very small. Of course, if you want to buy something extra on the plane there are options. Reading the comments apparently it's Turkish Airlines , Aegean Airlines, Emirates , Qatar Airways and Etihad Airways for the win!!

Note to self.

🐕 Happy International Dog day from our family's dogs here in BC to yours wherever you are!
🐕
This day was established to promote the adoption of dogs from shelters. We re-homed our Silkie-Yorkie dog when she was 2. We were very blessed to be able to adopt her. Here she is with my parents' dog, who hails from the Kootneys.

🌿 I know. It's not even September yet, and I definitely don't want to start posting pictures pumpkin spice latte or Halloween pics. Ugh! But this post is an exception.
🌿
Even if you aren't interested to buy a few targetted items to fill in a gap, or buy a whole bunch of Christmas decorations, you might find inspiration in this post to shop your closet and mix and match decorative items in new. Or even create your own items by sewing them or doing arts and crafts projects. Those gnomes could be DIYed. These things take time, so it's best to share it now. Not till two weeks before christmas.
🌿
Enjoy! See l ink ⬇️
