One of the most common questions I get is:
💊 "Are there any supplements that can help calm my bladder?"
And there are definitely a few that get talked about a lot.
Many women have heard of:
✨ D-Mannose for urinary tract health
✨ Pumpkin seed oil for urgency and frequency
✨ Magnesium for stress, tension, constipation, and sleep support
But today I want to flip the question around...
🤔 Could some of your supplements actually be making your bladder symptoms worse?
The answer is sometimes... yes.
One of the biggest offenders I see is Vitamin C, especially chewable Vitamin C 🍊
Vitamin C is acidic, and for some women that can irritate the bladder lining and increase:
💦 Urgency
💦 Frequency
💦 Bladder discomfort
Certain B vitamins can also be irritating for some women, especially at higher doses.
And surprisingly, Vitamin D occasionally shows up as a trigger too.
But often it isn't the vitamin itself causing the issue.
It's everything else that's added to it 👀
Many gummies, chewables, flavoured powders, dissolvable tablets, and liquid supplements contain:
⚠️ Artificial sweeteners
⚠️ Added flavourings
⚠️ Food colouring
⚠️ Preservatives
⚠️ Other ingredients that can irritate a sensitive bladder
That's why I often encourage women to look beyond the active ingredient and read the entire ingredient label.
Sometimes simply switching from a flavoured gummy or chewable to a plain capsule with fewer ingredients can make a noticeable difference 💛
Does this mean you need to throw out all your supplements?
Absolutely not 😊
But if you've been struggling with urgency, frequency, leaks, or a Bossy Bladder and can't figure out what's keeping things irritated, your supplements may be one piece of the puzzle worth investigating.
And as always, please don't stop prescribed medications or supplements without discussing it with your healthcare provider first 💛
Now I'm curious...
Have you ever noticed a supplement making your bladder symptoms better... or worse? 🤔💬
