One of the most common questions I get is:

💊 "Are there any supplements that can help calm my bladder?"

And there are definitely a few that get talked about a lot.

Many women have heard of:
✨ D-Mannose for urinary tract health
✨ Pumpkin seed oil for urgency and frequency
✨ Magnesium for stress, tension, constipation, and sleep support

But today I want to flip the question around...

🤔 Could some of your supplements actually be making your bladder symptoms worse?

The answer is sometimes... yes.

One of the biggest offenders I see is Vitamin C, especially chewable Vitamin C 🍊

Vitamin C is acidic, and for some women that can irritate the bladder lining and increase:
💦 Urgency
💦 Frequency
💦 Bladder discomfort

Certain B vitamins can also be irritating for some women, especially at higher doses.

And surprisingly, Vitamin D occasionally shows up as a trigger too.

But often it isn't the vitamin itself causing the issue.

It's everything else that's added to it 👀

Many gummies, chewables, flavoured powders, dissolvable tablets, and liquid supplements contain:

⚠️ Artificial sweeteners
⚠️ Added flavourings
⚠️ Food colouring
⚠️ Preservatives
⚠️ Other ingredients that can irritate a sensitive bladder

That's why I often encourage women to look beyond the active ingredient and read the entire ingredient label.

Sometimes simply switching from a flavoured gummy or chewable to a plain capsule with fewer ingredients can make a noticeable difference 💛

Does this mean you need to throw out all your supplements?

Absolutely not 😊

But if you've been struggling with urgency, frequency, leaks, or a Bossy Bladder and can't figure out what's keeping things irritated, your supplements may be one piece of the puzzle worth investigating.

And as always, please don't stop prescribed medications or supplements without discussing it with your healthcare provider first 💛

Now I'm curious...

Have you ever noticed a supplement making your bladder symptoms better... or worse? 🤔💬

Most women don't realise how connected these two things are.

The bladder, urethra, pelvic floor, and re**um are next-door neighbours in the same apartment building.

They literally share walls with each other.

So when you have problems with one, you'll have problems with the others.

Constipation can irritate a Bossy Bladder and stop the pelvic floor muscles from being able to do their job properly.

And this is yet another reason why just doing Kegels doesn't solve the problem.

Your bladder doesn't work alone.

It's part of a whole system.

And sometimes improving bladder control starts with looking beyond the bladder and the pelvic floor entirely. 💡

One of my clients recently said something that really stuck with me 💛

"It's just... the medical system stinks."

What she was frustrated by wasn't that nobody cared.

It wasn't that her doctors weren't trying to help.

It was that she never felt like she truly understood what was causing her symptoms or what she could actually do about them.

She'd been given a diagnosis.
She'd been offered medication.
She'd been told to do Kegels.

But she still felt stuck 😔

One thing she said really hit home:

👉 "I don't think you can go to a urogynecologist and they tell you one thing one time and you're like, 'Okay!'... It just doesn't work that way."

And honestly, I think a lot of women can relate to that.

A diagnosis can put a label on what's happening.

But it doesn't always explain:
❓ Why it started
❓ Why some days are worse than others
❓ What you should actually focus on to improve it

That's why I love sharing stories like hers 💛

🎥 You can watch a short clip from our conversation here:
https://vimeo.com/1201234561/7979de1292?share=copy&fl=sv&fe=ci

One of the things that stood out most to me was that she didn't talk about one magic exercise, gadget, or breakthrough moment.

Instead, she talked about:
✨ Finally understanding what was driving her symptoms
✨ Having support when questions came up
✨ Seeing other women going through the same thing
✨ Having a plan that actually made sense

And what made me smile the most?

She's a teacher 👩‍🏫

One of the things she hated most was constantly needing someone to watch her class while she ran to the bathroom.

Not because people minded helping.

Because it was embarrassing.

It made her feel like her bladder was in charge.

Recently she had one of those chaotic school days filled with schedule changes, stress, and uncertainty.

And despite all of that...

She stayed hydrated 💧
She only needed to go about every four hours ⏰

Then she said something that nearly brought tears to my eyes:

💛 "I don't even think about it anymore. It's seamless."

Imagine that.

Something that used to consume so much mental energy every single day has simply faded into the background.

She finished by saying:

✨ "I just never thought I would get to this point."

If you've been feeling stuck, discouraged, or like you're getting pieces of the puzzle without ever seeing the full picture, please know you're not alone.

So many of the women I work with felt exactly the same way before they finally started getting answers that made sense and a plan that actually fit their body and their life 💛

She said it herself - the moment we talked, it just completely clicked. And not once after that. 💛

Follow to learn how to stop bladder leaks, urgency, and frequency, without surgery, medication, or complicated exercises.

She knew from day one it was connected to the brain. She could feel it.

And then that connection got put into words.

"This isn't a physical thing happening. This is my brain making it happen."

From the parkade leaks - in public, where people could see - to not once.

Not a single time after that conversation.

"Now I don't even think about it. I'm just running around in and out doing whatever I want. I never ever worry about it."

"It's been absolutely incredible. The best thing ever."

She even showed her daughter - a nurse - and said you have to see this.

"I am so flipping happy that I took this." 💡

Everything changed.

Have you ever sprained your ankle? 🤔🦶

Or dealt with:
🦶 Plantar fasciitis
🦶 A bunion
🦶 Morton's neuroma
🦶 A calf strain
🦶 An old fracture

Most women never think twice about old foot or ankle injuries once the pain is gone.

But what if your body hasn't completely forgotten about them? 💭

One of the things I always look at when helping women with bladder urgency, leaks, frequency, and night p*eing is their history of foot and ankle injuries.

At first, that sounds completely unrelated 😅

After all, your bladder is up here and your foot is way down there!

But the body doesn't work in isolated pieces.

When you injure your foot or ankle, you often:
➡️ Shift your weight
➡️ Change the way you walk
➡️ Create compensations throughout your body

And those movement patterns can stick around long after the pain disappears.

Over time, those compensations can affect your hips, pelvis, and pelvic floor.

In fact, some of the muscles in your legs are directly connected to the pelvic floor system.

I often talk about something called a "Lopsided Pelvic Floor" ⚖️

That's when one side of the body is working differently than the other.

And your bladder isn't always a fan of that. 💦

There's also a nervous system connection 🧠

The nerves traveling through your feet and legs communicate with the same areas of the spinal cord involved in bladder control.

In fact, one treatment used for overactive bladder is tibial nerve stimulation, which works through a nerve near the ankle.

Pretty fascinating, right? 👀

This is one of the reasons I rarely look at bladder symptoms in isolation.

Sometimes the missing piece isn't your bladder at all.

Sometimes it's a pattern somewhere else in the body that's been influencing things for years.

I'm curious...

Have you ever had a significant foot or ankle injury? 🦶

If you're waking up multiple times a night to p*e, the answer might be in what you do before bed. 👇

Follow to learn how to stop bladder leaks, urgency, and frequency, without surgery, medication, or complicated exercises.

Most people should only produce about 20% of their daily urine overnight.

But many women with nighttime p*eing are producing much more than that - causing multiple trips to the bathroom and sometimes leaking along the way.

And most often, this isn't a problem with the bladder itself.

Your evening habits can influence this more than you think.

Things like screens late at night, bright lighting, salt later in the day, and not elevating your feet before bed can all increase how much urine you're making overnight.

Instead, try dimming your lights after dinner, wearing blue-light blocking lenses, reducing salt at dinner and evening snacks, and putting your feet up for an hour before bed.

Understanding and fixing nighttime p*eing means looking beyond the bladder entirely. 💡

📣 BCS Members Shout Outs 📣

So many powerful moments came out of the Bladder Confidence Solution program this week. Here are just a few highlights worth celebrating 🎉🎉🎉

JG had a powerful learning and body awareness win 🧠
She shared that she is becoming much more aware of her breathing patterns and the tendency to hold tension or breathe opposite to how her body needs during movement. Rather than getting discouraged, she is staying consistent with practicing 360 breathing and four-quadrant contractions, building new movement habits and a deeper understanding of how her core, nervous system, and bladder work together 🌿

BH had a major progress and hope-building win 💪
After previously being told she would simply have to live with her symptoms, she shared that she has seen significant improvements since starting the program. She is feeling more confident, noticing meaningful day-to-day changes, and gaining a clearer understanding of how past surgeries, scars, and physical history may be influencing her symptoms. Her willingness to explore these connections is helping her move forward with optimism and renewed confidence ✨

JB had a consistency and lifestyle integration win 🚶‍♀️
She reflected on how she is incorporating program tools into her busy routine through yoga, swimming, walking, and relaxation practices. She is also seeing positive changes in her nighttime bladder habits and building awareness around healthy bladder frequency, showing that steady, practical changes can create meaningful progress over time 🌟

LM had a courage and nervous system retraining win 🌱
She thoughtfully explored ways to challenge one of her strongest urgency triggers and is considering gradual exposure exercises to build confidence around arriving home after walks. Rather than avoiding the trigger, she is approaching it with curiosity and a willingness to practice new strategies, which is a powerful step toward retraining her bladder and nervous system 💛

HT had a powerful self-awareness and mindset win 🌿
She reflected deeply on how stress can affect her body long before she consciously recognizes it and identified several personal patterns that may serve as early warning signs. She also worked through feelings of overwhelm around all the different strategies and tools available, gaining clarity that progress comes from focusing on one step at a time rather than trying to do everything at once. This shift toward self-awareness, reflection, and simplifying the process is helping her build confidence and trust in her ability to move forward 💛

JR had a huge awareness and nervous system win 🧠
She connected a stressful week surrounding her son's travel plans with an increase in her bladder symptoms and recognized how closely stress, muscle tension, and urgency are linked. She also became more aware of pelvic floor gripping while driving and explored new tools and resources to better understand her body's stress responses. This growing awareness is helping her make more intentional choices and respond to symptoms with greater confidence ✨

JM had a mindset and nervous system win 🌱
She shared a thoughtful insight about how long-standing patterns of tension, hypervigilance, and holding on can feel difficult to let go of, even when relaxation is the goal. She embraced the idea that meaningful change does not happen all at once and recognized that even a few intentional minutes of breathing and nervous system regulation each day are valuable steps forward. This willingness to approach change gradually is helping build a stronger foundation for lasting progress 🌟

👉 Here’s how I stopped my bladder from taking over my life…

When you constantly feel like you need to p*e…

🚽 Rushing to the toilet multiple times a day
🚫 Avoiding outings unless you know where every bathroom is
💦 Dealing with leaks that feel embarrassing and exhausting
It’s okay to admit it:

Bladder leaks are frustrating.

🧘Take a breath and feel that for a moment.
But also remember - it’s temporary.

You’re strong. You’re resilient. 💪

And there is a way forward.
What if there’s a simpler way - one that actually gets results?
